However, a couple of things in my Facebook feed made me stop short this month. A Caltech (and SF) friend had his start up bought by Twitter for $15 million and a Caltech alum younger than me won a MacArthur genius grant. My gut reaction - I HAVE SQUANDERED ALL OF MY POTENTIAL! My second thought - wow, they have different priorities and dreams than I do.
Priorities and dreams, people. Priorities and dreams. For many years, I hoped I'd find the right guy, have a family, and have a happy home. That dream is here and I make it a priority in my life. Remember that when you're on Facebook. The people traveling the globe make it a priority. The people kicking butts in their careers make it a priority. The people posting about their kids make it a priority.
So when I spend the next couple of weeks on Facebook posting about the beach, you'll know it's because spending time with people I love at a place I love is a priority for me. Losing that weight after surgery and becoming CTO? Not so much. And I'm pretty happy with these priorities.
