I started off January on a book bender but fizzled out. Then in one sitting this weekend, I read a wonderful, magical book called Wonder. Believe the hype.
The book is about a kid with facial deformities who had been homeschooled due to medical issues and is starting public school for the first time. It is heartbreaking and inspiring and beautiful. At its heart, it is about kindness.
The boys have Kindness Week next week at school, with special events each day centered on kindness. There are banners up and special days and the librarian had a whiteboard covered with the message "Choose Kindess." This morning as I shelved library books, the librarian was teaching a fifth grade class and she asked if anyone had read Wonder. She went on and on about how it was a great read, everyone should read it, and the book inspired her whiteboard message.
So don't listen to me about this book, listen to an elementary school librarian.
Happy February, love month.

Oh, it's a two-fer. Not only a boys being boys picture, but also a macro picture of winter flowers. You've made me very happy.
Love that pic of Nate!
I'll put that book on my list, thanks!
