Two things you need to know about me if we are going to be friends

This is the time of year when everyone focuses on the things they want to change about themselves. If we're going to be friends, you need to know two things about me that will never, ever change. If you want to love me, you are going to have to accept these things about me.

1. I have this insane ability to put my foot in mouth, saying and/or doing the "wrong" thing at the wrong time. It will be awkward when it happens, and you'll just have to forgive me and move on. It's because I believe in speaking the truth.

Like the time I almost got my ass beat at a winter party in Chicago laughing when a girl wearing the most ridiculous heels tumbled down a flight of stairs. Sorry, but if you're wearing shoes you can barely walk in while there is snow and ice on the sidewalk, you're going to fall. And that's funny. Wear reasonable shoes when walking over snow.

2. I take photos. I take photos of people I love. If I haven't seen you in awhile, I will make you take a photo when I see you. You might not be wearing makeup or your clothes might be wrinkled or you're on third day hair. I don't care because I love you just the way you are.

I have lost count of the number of eye rolls and huffs under the breath when I pull out the camera. Eventually you will learn from the boys it goes SO MUCH FASTER if you just put on your biggest fakest smile and get it over with. Plus you get candy!

It's because 20 years from now, we will be so happy to have that photo of us together, during that time in life.  Photos are very important to me and that will never change.

Haha, love this one. I loved how you worded the first issue....that is so me and I have so gotten myself in trouble but I raised my kids with this phrase..."don't tell me what I want to hear, tell me the way it is" and if I expect it from them I certainly expect it from my friends. But I have learned over the years, some only do want to hear what they want too =)

And I will be the one to high-five you and giggle when your foot is placed firmly in your mouth, but I insist you do the same for me.

Your pictures are priceless.

Never change.

Love this. I realize I have been slacking on picture taking lately. I'm actually not even sure where my camera is... I'm going to change this asap.

Love it. And I'm so glad I'm not the only person who is awkward and says the wrong things CONSTANTLY. I do it all the time. To know I do that and forgive me anyway, it's a beautiful thing.
