The Year of Connection, part one and part two

Over New Year's Eve weekend, we packed up for a quick jaunt to Charlotte to visit Irene and family. It's pretty rad we live so close, but with 5 boys 5 and under... and jobs and traveling husbands and outside interests... sometimes it's hard to get time together.

The trip was great - lots of park time for the kids, lots of time to chat. Since our boys are old enough to play unsupervised, it left four adults to supervise the two 18 month olds (dare I say it? The twins.)



Unfortunately Matt got what he thought was food poisoning. It turned out to be a 24 hour stomach virus. That I got when we got home. Then Jon got it. And then later this week, I upgraded my iphone to the latest operating system and it wiped everything. Restore failed. I had to re-type every single phone number back into my phone.

Here's the thing. Before The Year of Connection, I would have let these things put me in a bad mood. However, re-typing numbers back into my phone made me really consider who was in there, and who was missing. It was an excellent exercise in the Year of Connection.

And spending all day in bed feeling like I was going to puke? Totally worth it for a chance to see Irene's family in person and hang out with them.
