Vacation hangover

Today I am back to work after two full weeks off. I haven't had two weeks off since maternity leave, which, with twins, does not count EVEN THE TINIEST BIT as vacation. We didn't travel, we didn't have any house guests, we didn't do anything from our to do list.

A lot of people have asked what we did. The answer - nothing. It's been glorious, just hanging out at our house with our little family, not doing much. The other 50 weeks of the year is always go go go do do do. Sometimes I felt cranky, not sure how to just BE. I spent a lot of time thinking, reflecting, and mentally planning.

By the end of the time, I realized I need to figure out how to bring this feeling to every week of the year. Where just hanging out, watching TV together, is enough.

Day 2

Welcome back!

If you need advice for slothing it out on the coach all you have to do is ask.

Ditto Joanna-
Plenty of expertise on doing nothing. So happy you had two weeks full of nothing. Such a gift!

I've been prioritizing Nothing Days, too. It feels like that's most of my childhood: why do I feel like I need to fill their days? They have a kajillion toys right here to play with. They need some boredom to inspire creative play. =)

I agree and hope I can also incorporate more days filled with nothing into our schedule.

You are singing my SONG, sister. I totally dig the do-nothing vacation. I dig it so much, I always do it. Which means I need to do the opposite of your family and try, for once, the do-something vacation. But, not any time soon. I'm too busy creating human beings.

love the photo, as always.

We were sort of forced to do nothing because we've been trading off illness. But it's been nice to just chill out at home.

I'm surprised you guys haven't taken a long vacation at some point - I find I can't really get out of work-mind unless I'm off for 2 weeks or more.

Whether I wanted it or not, we are getting a lot of do nothing days at our house right now with me recovering. I kind of dig it but also am finding I almost have to learn how to enjoy being lazy and doing nothing. The kids and Joe seem to have no problems in this department. LOL!

What everyone else said! I definitely could have used two more days. (At least.) Glad you really got to enjoy the time off. And let me know when you've figured out how to incorporate "do nothing" into your regular schedule!

I used to schedule days of spontaneity every month or so on the weeked. I would decline all invitations and just do whatever the girls or I felt like doing.
