Last night we discussed with the boys what we should do for our big family holiday donation. Should we help people who don't have food, help buy supplies for schools that don't have them, help kids who don't have parents?
Nate said: "Why don't we do all of it?"
More kleenex, please.
(And ideas on incorporating giving with children, please. We want to GO BIG this year.)

I don't have anything out of the box that we do for Thanksgiving, but for Mother's Day the girls and I go down to a local nursing home and give all the ladies a flower with a little note attached that says "The Baptiste girls thought about you today!" This doesn't have to just be done for Mother's Day or just women for that matter.
On the school piece last year we picked 4 schools in NC from Donors Choose as a family to fund classroom needs.
I picked NC counties I know are underfunded. Bill picked a tech request and I picked one related to graduation rates for minority males.
On the kid front, I researched in advance and gave Ben something like 5 options to pick 2 from: each with a link of what we going to buy so he could see it wasn't toys
On the first day of school he recognized one of the items from the kindergarten class we had supported.
Plans to do this again as part of our family Jesse Tree in December.
Great idea in letting the kids help in the decision making.

They can literally each pack as many shoe boxes each as your heart desires.
Looks like you're getting through to Nate!
We are volunteering to bring and serve dinner at our local homeless shelter (a big group of us are providing food for 70+ people). The kids are really into the idea of helping too others and it makes my heart smile.
Bless his heart ;) Kids just make your heart grow in so many ways!
He is adorable!
We did Santa's Shoebox and I chose two kids the same age as mine (2 year old girl and boy) and one box for me (a 13-year old girl)
We have a Giving Tree at work, with very specific requests on it. I'm guessing you've got one somewhere in your area, so the kids could help pick tags and shop for the people they pick?
Is there an adopt-a-family program near you?
I know that your boys are thankful for a loving, supportive family. How about helping kids who aren't so lucky ? Check out Royal Family Kids Camp at www.rfkc.org to see what 1 week at camp can do for foster kids, kids who have been adopted, and kids who have gone back home. It is amazing what 1 week at summer camp can do in a child's life ~ a week with loving, safe adults ! RFKC was started by Wayne & Diane Tesch with some money donated to their church for "missions" ~ and what a mission it has become ! Betsy Mosier ( Libby's mom )
I agree with Angela's suggestion. Operation Christmas Child is fabulous and the kids love packing a shoe box with goodies. We do this each year for boys the same age as our boys. So fun!
