- Chaperone field trip to a pumpkin farm.
- Collect and organize items for the school-wide food drive
- Shelve books in the library (MY FAVE)
- Literacy centers in the boys' classrooms (reading to them, listening to them read, playing reading games)
- Mystery reader in the boys' classrooms - we submit clues about our child ahead of time and the kids get to guess whose parent is coming to read
I will say it again.... I am so glad Nate and Alex attend such an amazing public elementary school, and even more glad I have a flexible work schedule so I can help volunteer at the school.

Libraries are awesome! I sometimes shelve books at our regular library just for fun! :)
And I love the mystery reader volunteer clues - awesome idea!
Also, your state fair post was fantastic. We don't go to our state fair, cause it's insanely expensive, overcrowded (it's in august, so no school in session) and trashy. However, I'm going to use your tips for our county fair next year!
How awesome! I used to think that once the girls went to kindergarten I could work more, but now I'm realizing that I"ll want even more flexibility than what I have now. *crosses fingers*
Very, very cool. I love that you get to be part of the boys' school experience. And I think you are a great person to do the lesson on kindness.
Okay, you are never allowed to complain about Mommy guilt again. Hello, overachieving working Mom award -- no one else need apply.
It does sound like their school does amazing things, and it's great that you get to be a part of so many of them. Now I'll just go sulk under my desk =)
You are a wonderful mom!
Sounds like fun! I too like to shelve books in the library....must be something to do with my need for order. I am volunteering in Michael's art class tomorrow, which I know nothing about.
You LIKE shelving books? Please come to my house. My children take all the books out of the bookshelves in my bedroom, and many days I just leave them all on the floor. But since you like shelving, come on down! (Up?) And I have lots of other things that need organizing too while you're here. :-)
