Happy 6th blogiversary to me!

Today marks my 6 year blogging anniversary. Writing for 6 years every Monday through Friday = 1639 posts about our life. Kind of insane but also EPIC.

I started this blog the day I found out I was pregnant because I suck at keeping secrets. To celebrate, I thought I would post a picture from each October I've been blogging.

Year 0:
I was 4 weeks pregnant in this picture and didn't know it yet. In the foreground: my favorite mug. In the background: a lamp Alex broke as an early walker.

Year0

Bonus Year 0 picture! Here I am 36 weeks pregnant, just 3 days before the boys were born. In only 32 weeks I grew from the picture above to the picture below. No stretch marks and everything on my body bounced back. I consider it fair compensation for the FOURTEEN weeks on bed rest.

36 weeks with twins

Year 1:
SURPRISE SURPRISE. We had two five month olds! And they were/are so so so so different you would never consider them two peas in a pod.

Year1

Year 2:
Also known as The Year They Never Looked At The Camera At The Same Time. Also known as the year with two one year olds. Also known as the year more destruction occurred in our home than will ever happen again.

Year2

Year 3:
Cutest.Pirates.Ever!

Year3

Year 4:
Another reason to love NC: 75 on Halloween day.

Year4

Year 5:
Judge if you will but they were SO HAPPY we dressed up.

Halloween03

Year 6:
Who knew this blog would still be going? When I sat down to create a little online journal about my pregnancy for my family and friends, I never imagined I would still be going strong six years later. Or that I would learn so much. Or that I would make so many friends. Or that I would get so much great advice. Or that I would still be on a blogspot domain.

NC09

Thank you to everyone reading. In ways I can never explain, this blog brings so much into our lives.

I'm so glad you started writing too. That helmet post made me cry this morning, so thanks for that. Your boys are so lucky lucky to have you guys, and really that goes both ways. Happy 6 year blogiversary my friend.

Happy 6th blogiversary! And you are asking me to pick just one favorite post out of 1639......

Happy blog anniversary! Your blog is one of my favorites. You got me interested in running and also Mondo Beyondo. But, apart from how I have benefited from it, I loved seeing how your photography talents have budded and also love how you give a theme to every year. Its hard to pick just one post :) I do need to find time to go back and read your blog from the beginning, I think I started reading it midway through when I started my blog after Autumn was born.

Happy blogiversary - it's been an absolute pleasure reading your blog the last couple of years (I think I started reading when mine were little babies, but then I read back for about two years :))

Your blog has brought a lot of joy to my life, so YAY for six years!

As for my favorite post? I think it's always the next one I read. I'm fickle that way.

Congratulations, Laura! I have read every one of your posts. I found your blog after finding out I was having twin boys...I wanted to gather as much info as possible. I then went back and read all the posts I had missed! I think my favorite post was the one about using the "f" word while shopping. I love that post because it reminds me that we all lose our cool, but we are still good parents!

Happy 6th year. Double blessing to know you as our boys have grown from the days in the newborn hospital group well as through your writing.

I am thankful for both relationships and for your ability to give voice to struggles of the work/family dance.

Thank you for keeping it realistic, always seeing the positive, and sharing your talents behind the camera.

As far as a favorite? Most anything related to Mondo. If anyone was living Mondo, it's you :)

Oh the places you have gone and will take your readers.

Awesome!!! And yeah that's kind of an insane amount of post. I've been doing our family blog for five years now and we're right around 500. (Actually we're about to hit that number in three posts! Yay.)

Not to be entirely un-original, but I love the post you wrote to Alex about the helmet. You sent me a link to it when I was really struggling with Sophia and her brace. I'll always remember that. It was nice to feel like I was alone.
Happy Blogiversary!!!

Happy blogiversary! Wow, 6 years of posts every day - what a great record of your life!

I think I started reading about 3 years ago or so (maybe a little earlier than that), but I definitly dug through the archives to read about your pregnancy and early days with newborn twins. A favorite post? Gosh, there's no way I can pick just one. But for pure humor, I love your posts/letters to celebrity twin moms. Hilarious!

HAPPY BLOG-AVERSARY!

My favorite blog post(s) of yours are usually the ones talking about living in NC and showing off all the beautiful scenery through your photography- particularly the fall foliage shots. So jealous!

Happy Day! I found your blog when I returned from work after having my identical twin boys in Nov. 2009. I was missing them and work was slow starting back, so I dove through your archives excited to see all the changes I was likely to experience as well. I love your birthday posts to the boys, I would like to write similar letters to my boys to commemorate their birthdays as well! Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Happy Blogging Anniversary! So, I seriously can not pick a favorite because I love all your posts. I love how honest and real they are. If you really want a favorite though it would be this one:

I love pictures! Also, this vacay sounded very relaxing and full of fun.

Happy blogiversary! I'm so glad I started clicking on the link to your site from Lindsay's blog. There's no way I could pick a favorite post - your blog is one of my favorites and one of the few I click on almost every day. I love how you share the highs and the lows, your Mondo journey, your book reviews, etc. I've learned so much from your blog. Looking forward to reading for many years to come!

Not to be selfish (ok, to be selfish) my favorite has to be when you met ME! =) http://jonandlaura.blogspot.com/2009/02/all-about-our-trip-part-2-blogfriend.html

I'm so glad you kept on writing, or I would never have found you! It takes some real dedication and determination to keep blogging, so congratulations to you.

As for favorite blog posts...there are lots, but I definitely loved the ones to Hollywood parents of twins.

And, of course, the most recent about Arrested Development (good timing on that one, by the way, with the new episodes and movie just announced :)

My favorite recent post was the "First Day of Kindergarten" post when you posted pics of them as infantas and then standing in front of your house - makes me cry every time!!!

And I love the posts with pictures of your house and the fashion posts and well, everything! :)

I've been a lurker for a few years and am coming out today! I love your blog, your stories and your photos. Oh, how I wish we were closer to North Carolina so we could have you do photos of our family.

I've loved all of your posts but the post(s) from a year or so ago of your beach vacation still stand out. Love the photos of the boys on the pier.

Congrats on 6 years! (I've only been going 14 months but don't plan to stop anytime soon!)

Having twin boys a year younger it always let's me see what's to come....and kinda be ready for it! :) My favorite post(s) were when you guys moved to your new house. It seemed like it made your family so happy!

Happy 6 years! My favorite post is honestly the one where you debuted your wall of canvas on the stairs.

Lame but I love it!

Happy Blogiversary!

My favorite post is any post where you end it with "I'm so meant to be a mom to boys."

Way to hang in there! I think I'm coming up on 7 years, but I lost about 80% of my archives while transitioning from site to site. *sad panda*

Also, photo #2 makes my back hurt. Vicariously, you know.

Laura- congratulations on such an accomplishment. What a gift for your family and for all of us that get to benefit from your wisdom or even just crack a little smile each day. I think your early newborn days were some of my favorite posts. This is mostly because I devoured those posts when I was pregnant with our girls, just wanting someone to tell me what it would really be like. Your posts didn't make me feel frightened, but rather just like..."okay, now I know what I am getting into, and I can prepare myself."

Julie said...

Congratulations on 6 YEARS!! I am always impressed at how you post every single day, even if its a small snippet of a story.

I have lots of favorite posts, but the ones coming to mind right now: the one where you decide to say YES more, just in the name of fun. Also, the one where N had the diarrhea explosion in Target and Jon had to buy pants and you had to McGyver a way out of the poop and into the clean pants and A talking really loud about it as you were leaving the store--that just typifies to me the insane situations you never think you will be in on the day you get that positive pregnancy test. Not sure if that is THE favorite post, but it just popped into my mind as one that made me shake my head and laugh.

I love your blog, I enjoy all of the posts with family beach vacations. They look so fun and the pictures are so awesome!

Congratulations on 6 years! I am so glad that I found your blog. It helps so much to read about someone doing the work/mother think and making it work. And, I appreciate so much that you are honest about things...it helps me to realize that I am not the only one whose kids aren't always perfect :)

Plus you love drinking wine, running and Arrested Development...enough said!

happy six! Although you have written many beautiful, touching posts I have to say that my favorite post is the one where you did the drawing of someone pooping and saying "mommy?" I am desperately searching through your archives wanting to read it again because I am laughing just thinking about it. I know you know the one I mean. I must find it!!

Gillian said...

OK I just read everyone else's favorite posts and now I feel shallow. but seriously. funniest drawing ever.

Gillian said...

This one also was hilarious
http://jonandlaura.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-week-so-far.html

"freaking socks" and "things I pretended not to see" were hilarious.

I am shallow!!

Happy happy Blog-aversary. I am so glad you have this space, it has been an inspiration and tutorial and all around awesome place to visit for however many years I've been reading.

I don't know if "favorite" is a fair term, but I still remember one of the very first posts of yours I ever read, I think the boys were like 18 months old and you took them out while Jon was away and they were running in the dark in the parking lot. It captured the insanity so well.

I wish I really had the time to go through and find my absolute favorites but the one that immediately popped into my head was "This would have been good to know in advance" with your stick figure drawings about the ice cream truck. That had me ROLLING! And the irony is that I admire and love your photography so much and here I am telling you one of my favorite posts involves sketches. LOL!

Oh and the one about the zhu zhu pet. That one is a favorite too.

Happy blogiversary!

I look forward to reading every.single.day. Even if I rarely comment, I'm here.

I love your pictures! It's too hard to pick a fave post.

I love and appreciate you always keeping it real and making me laugh. And you give great advice. I only wish I had found you sooner than I did!

Happy blogiversary. It has been a joy reading your blog all these years and watching your cute boys as they grow. You've taken so many priceless, great photos!

I've been Mac-less for two weeks and have NOT kept with with blogs or twitter or much of anything for that matter. So...

HAPPY BELATED BLOGIVERSARY!

When reading your other post about posts that folks liked best I was shocked that my FAV didn't make it. It was the first time I laughed so hard that I cried reading a blog. It was the first time I actually MADE other people read a blog post because not only did it make me laugh my ASS off but because I knew everyone else in my life would laugh THEIR asses off. It was the first time I knew I was not alone in my insane journey through twin mama-hood.

Ok - so I just went back to find said post so I could actually quote the title and I have NO idea when it was BUT....

It was about poop in the tub and some major freaking out. Oh, and judging by your track record, I will go ahead and assume that Jon was away???

Send me a link if you can so I can re-read it and pee my pants laughing again!!!!

*HUGS*
