Too bad the neighbors are quiet

One of our must-haves when looking for our new house was a backyard where we could supervise the boys from inside. Our new backyard is flat and with windows across the back of the house, we can see most of it. We had no idea that when the boys started kindergarten, we would NEED the backyard so much. After a whole day cooped up inside (except for snack and short recess), the boys need to run and run and scream and shout.

There have been some EPIC fights in the backyard since kindergarten started but all that time alone together has led them to come with some amazing games. This is the latest, hockey ball. Here they are having a quick face off.

Project 365 - Day 6

They each got one of these enormous balls as part of their Fun Run fundraiser. The other one is already super deflated from being whacked by hockey sticks. And to keep it 100% real, this fun game was full of giggles until someone broke a rule and then there was insane shouting and screaming at each other.

No worries though, they were back to laughing when I played the next game with them, which involved throwing the frisbee super fast to hit the fence without nailing a kid in the face.

hahaha sounds like a fun game. I love just leaving the house windows open and listening to the boys outside in the backyard having fun together!

Love the huge ball! I'll have to show JTC this picture. =)

So, is it OK to hit a kid with the Frisbee as long as it's not in his face?

Fun! It looks like they have such a great time together.

Oh how I wish I had a yard at all! I probably should be embarrassed to admit this, but Cole and I invented an indoor game a few weeks ago. He hits a small bouncy ball with a foam baseball bat and I have to retrieve it and try to hit him in the butt with the ball before he touches the "bases". It is called "butt ball".

We are city folks, and whenever we look at bigger, better homes to raise our kids, we always look in the city. But I swear, everytime I see pics of your house, and now your backyard (which is exactly what I want!) I feel like I need to have a talk with my husband about the merits of the 'burbs. Thanks, Laura, for throwing monkey wrenches into people's lives. :-)
