One thing you may have noticed missing from all the kindergarten transition posts is talk about our jobs. Jon and I have a VERY FIRM rule about not discussing our jobs "publicly" because we want to keep those jobs. We both work in software, from home. And for the last year, I've worked Monday-Thursday, with Fridays off to run errands and/or work on my photography business.
Now my Fridays consist of volunteering in the boys' classrooms and in the library as well as errands. Nothing has made me feel better about my boys' school than being in the classroom every week (that Type A thing again).
And depending on our daily schedules, one of us gets to see this sight every day:

What a great sight to see. Andy get's that everyday, but I've managed to make a few of them as well. Love it.
It's great, isn't it? I love catching that enthusiasm off the bus. Isabel still runs to me every day shrieking my name, and I will be so sad when that ends. Enjoy your "day off"; it's wonderful when those things can be worked out.
you are so lucky to have a great job that you love AND be at home for you sons. I am transitioning to a more "work-from-home" job and can't wait to be able to spend more time with my kids! Now if only I could get fridays off!
I am so excited by that picture. Our district finally realized they were not making any money by charging for the bus so they rescinded the fees. Now I can have my kiddos take the bus home, hopefully starting next week. I can't wait!
Excellent! Laura, seemingly, you have arrived! Perfect use of your 'day off'. Love it! So critical that you are in the classroom and supporting them. Just amazing!
Cool, I didn't know J worked at home too. Do you guys have separate offices or do you use the same room?
