Last day of the pool 2011

With the weather cooling down, rain in the forecast, and Jon out of town, I decided last night would be the last day at the pool this year. Looks fun, huh?

Pool01

Yeah, no. It was pretty much a fiasco. Here's Alex crying at the end of the slide because the water is too cold.

They sat on the same chair to eat dinner and did nothing but fight. I'm sure the neighbors whose windows are closest to this chair LOVED IT. You know the fighting is bad when I'm looking at them AND photographing them and they don't stop.

I asked them very nicely to please sit in the same chair for one picture so I would have a comparison picture to First Day of Pool Ever 2007. (Please go see those pictures, omg so little and so cute!) That was awesome. They let me take one shot.

So.... yeah it was one of THOSE nights. The thing about blogging is that I could have posted the picture below (they were pretending their rockets were pencils and were writing things in the water) and pretended it was a perfect night.

I hope as you go through your blogs and see amazing photos and beautiful children and super crafts and mind-blowing baking and moms who seem to "have it all" you think about this post. That you remember there's always more to the story. Generally I focus on the positive. Generally I focus on that last photo but that last photo comes with all the other insanity.

And the only thing I can say about how insane last night was is that I really enjoyed that glass of wine I had after the boys went to bed.

Good bye Summer 2011!

I'm sure it says a whole lot about me that I always love the pictures of the boys not cooperating.

Also, in the picture of Alex crying about the cold water, is Nate filling up a squirter with that cold water, and did he shoot it at Alex?

yeah, after we got out of the pool Sunday we had some crying too. Honestly, when I went to blog about it I no longer even remembered why but I figure, I have been keeping it real mostly so I can gloss over this one.

Thanks for keeping it real. Love ALL the pictures, especially that first action shot. Kinda sad to have pool/summer season over.

My aunt used to tease me because I would post about whatever adventure we had been on and it would sound like it went well, and then at the end I'd say - Never doing that again! Gotta keep it real.

I am glad you post the real. It gets me through the days. 3 is KILLING me. But, both boys were accident free for the first time ever in this long journey known as potty training...

...so good and bad...one day they will be closer to 4 than 3! :)

No weather to be swimming over here by us anymore!

You wrote what I needed to read. I'm reading all these wonderful blogs where moms of 3+ kids are doing crafting, homeschooling, cooking organic meals from scratch while taking world-class awesome photos of their perfect little families with a quail parade of adorable kids, and it makes me think "why the hell can't I get it together with just 1?!". Urghhhh.

I'm with Joanna, I kind of love the pictures when the boys just aren't having it.

Farewell summer. May there be crisp afternoons, hay bales, and apple picking in the near future.
