At the dinner table last night.
Nate: "Are we allowed to get dessert when we buy lunch?"
Laura: "Did you buy dessert?"
Nate: "I bought an ice cream sandwich with my mac and cheese."
Time to put a restriction on their lunch money accounts.
PS. Both boys wanted to try riding bikes with no training wheels last night. As the MUCH shorter parent, all responsibility fell to me. They both managed to balance for a little bit but it was mostly Laura sprinting while hunching and holding a bike seat in humid summer weather. Will they ever know all we do for them???
PPS. I signed the boys up for fall basketball yesterday and they asked if the boys would be considered "short, medium, or tall" kids. I said, "SHRIMPIES!"

I found this to be the best method for teaching a kid to ride a back and saving your back in the process. I got on my bike beside her and practiced the balance with her. Then I only had to hold the bike while she got on and she was able to ride alone almost immediately.
Now if I could only get her sister to do the same.
Best recommendation for learning to ride a bike is to take off the pedals. They then learn how to balance the bike (similar to the balance bikes they sell). Then once they are comfortable, put the pedals back on and they'll be off before you know it! Good luck!
Richard is nowhere near wanting to ride without training wheels! I ask him every now and then if he would like to try, but he never shows an interest.
Good luck with the bikes, and basketball!
Hilarious about Nate!
I feel for you on the bikes. When S and J first got their skuut bikes their feet did not reach the ground. So they would want to do it but I literally had to hold them firmly the whole time, quite low for their 2 year old selves. Now they're too big for them but I'm holding out until they can pedal themselves!
