Part-time update

It's been almost a year that I've been working 4 day work weeks instead of 5 days. I am SO THRILLED my company offers this as an option and honestly, it makes me work harder to ensure I can keep this privilege. I'm also not going to lie - it has made our life infinitely easier with two working parents, particularly with Jon traveling.

I am a machine on Fridays, busting out insane amounts of chores and tasks. I take full advantage of those 8 kidless hours. Grocery shopping, Target, menu planning, doctor's appointments... it is a super industrious day. The biggest benefit, by far, is that we no longer trek the kids on errands on weekends. We just get to enjoy the weekend as a family. It has been an awesome change for our family.

However, with just 7 Fridays left until the boys start kindergarten, we've decided to use those Fridays to let the boys play hooky. I broke the news last night to the boys that we were going to play hooky on Friday and check out a beach at a local lake. I had no idea how insanely excited they were going to be. Nate literally looked at the sky and shouted with joy.

So our weeks may be a little more hectic until they start kindergarten but it will be SO WORTH IT.

PS. More of Irene's family pictures on the photography blog!

Great news. My kids LOVE it when I pick them up early to do something silly like hang out at the pool.

We've got some weird time in August when school has started and the kindergarteners aren't in school yet that I have no childcare options for, so I'm thinking of just doing crazy stuff or day trips for those few days before school starts.

ooh... A double Friday date night/day. Let me know if you find anywhere you would recommend for Ben Date nights.

As far as going part time, just think of how much more time you can dedicate to your growing photography business because you said YES to a different work schedule.

ps- Fairly sure the Easley, SC HOT Spot has both BQ and Plain corn nuts

What a nice idea. I really, really wish I had one day a week to do errands since I feel like our weekends are so packed with chores and errands that I don't get a chance to enjoy the kids.

We've been doing the same thing as much as possible this summer. We're paying for daycare regardless but we'll keep them home (or sometimes just the girls) during the week when either Jeffrey or I have off from work) and make it a fun day! They start preschool in the Fall and we won't be able to do that then so we're spoiling them now. Oh, and in case you're wondering, the girls miss this cut-off date for kindergarten by 25 days. They will be almost six when they start. But I'm kinda glad because they will be more mature and able to handle things better.

Ah yes--the best thing about being a SAHM is errand running during the week and FUN on the weekends! Enjoy your special Fridays this summer--YAHOO!!

Yay for 4-day workweeks, getting all your chores done on Fridays (instead of playing Words with Friends all day like I would probably do) and prioritizing your family above all else. You're incredible!
