At the beginning of the half marathon, I felt really really hot. It was a really humid day and we were running fast on hills so I figured that's why it felt hot. I never could quite cool down all day after the run. I drank some Gatorade along the race, which I normally do not drink, and my stomach was not feeling good the rest of the day. Again, this is completely to be expected after a long race so I didn't think much of it.
Then my throat started hurting last night. Then I woke up and it was hurting super bad, my lymph nodes are swollen, and oh btw, strep is going around Nate and Alex's classroom.
So I have strep.
And apparently I ran a half marathon with a fever. Which would sound badass except Irene ran a full marathon while pregnant but didn't know she was pregnant yet.
What do you think? What is more badass? Full marathon while pregnant or half marathon with a fever?

The two of you are both super badass. No question about it. Though she at least (presumably) got good news out of it. I hope you get well soon, and that she has a healthy and easy pregnancy.
Well, on one hand you have the first trimester boob aches which is a bitch when running. But having been laid low by strep last fall and unable to move out of my bed for 2 days while balancing childcare with a traveling husband I am going to give you the win. Feel better! And take the sick days especially since you had a big software release last weekend - you deserve to curl up and feel like you are going to die :-)
Well considering I am just getting over what you had - I think you are pretty bad ass!
Sorry about the strep. It sucks.
Granted a 5K is nothing like a full or half marathon, I've done one both with a fever and 13 weeks pregnant (but I didn't know it was twins). I'm gonna have to give the badass award to pregnant.
I'm going to have to say that it's a draw. I ran Warrior Dash with a sinus infection and strep, and it's badass, but come on, pregnant? To close to call.
Get well quick!
You're both badass! But I've done both so from personal experience I'm giving the badass prize to you.
I'll tell you what's not badass, from the archives of things I've done that I thought would be badass but were just really, really stupid in retrospect: running a half with a bladder infection. I knowingly did that one year and the only thing that hurt worse was childbirth.
Toss up for sure! I know I could personally do neither! No way, no how! I think you are the most badass person I know!
both are more badass then I will ever ever be!!!!
I would say it depends how far she was... :) If she wasn't having morning sickness yet, I would say running one with a fever would be harder :)
Ah, let's duke it out at the Warrior Dash!! But hopefully neither of us will be sick. Or pregnant.
Oh wow... Kylee and I had strep last week and it sucks especially having a fever. I feel like crap when I have a fever. I want to say running with strep is badass since I did it last Wednesday, then again any woman that runs while pregnant is pretty bad ass in my book. Toss-up?!
