I hired a local cake person to make an R2D2 birthday cake. When I told people there would be an R2D2 cake, they assumed it was a sheet cake with R2D2 on top. You are so sad this is not your birthday cake:
As if the party were not enough excitement, the pool also opened this weekend. We've already been three times, including one time with cocktails. And Jon and I have finally hit the holy grail of pool time with kids - we don't HAVE to get in. Which is good because it is freaking COLD right now. And I would hate for my delicious cocktail to get warm.
As if a party and the pool were not enough excitement, grandma Roxane was in town to play with the boys, take them to movies, cook us meals, and generally have fun. We could not get the boys to ever take a good picture together with her, but maybe this is a good age to start letting them take individual shots.

Damn, I wish my pool allowed cocktails! Of course, I still need to get in to the pool with at least one of my two kids, so maybe it's best I don't mix that with drinking. Although the alcohol would probably make me somewhat immune to what I'm sure will be very cold water when our pool opens in two weeks...

The girls were at a party there on Saturday too! Their party was at 4:15. We hit up open play almost every time they have it on a weekend.
It's good to know that even you can not always get the money shot! It's still a gorgeous picture of the boys, though. Yay for awesome parties that don't involve stress! It only took us 5 years to figure that one out, huh? And totally awesome cake. Don't think I'll show that one to William. LOL!
great pictures!! The ones of Roxanne with both boys are amazing. I am glad they had a great birthday. BTW I had a very similar r2d2 cake (but w/ buttercream) for my fifth birthday - I will see if I can dig up a pic. My mom was a cake genius.
I AM so sad that is not my cake. Are you on countdown till Kindergarten starts? Will there be tears from them or you?
