This would have been good to know in advance

Part of our neighborhood looks like a slice of pie. Rather than try to describe it to you, I have used my amazing drawing talent to create images for you:

Last night as I pulled into the garage after school pick up, we heard an ice cream truck. Nate, Alex, and I ran out into the driveway to see where it was. We could see it fairly close to our house but it was moving away from us with no way for us to catch up.

Nate was upset. I said, "Don't worry! It's going to go around the circle then come back down our street. I will get money and we will get ice cream." The boys jumped up and down as they heard the music blaring through our neighborhood.

The ice cream truck got to the corner and instead of driving down our street where there were kids jumping up and down screaming for ice cream, he turned the opposite direction and left our neighborhood.

I have a firm rule that I always buy ice cream from ice cream trucks and always buy lemonade at lemonade stands. But after this ice cream man left me with this 30 minute disaster, I am going to think twice about giving him my business.

(Alex cried for a minute then happily played with water guns in the backyard while Nate screamed and cried over the missed ice cream THE ENTIRE TIME I made dinner. What can I say, the kid has my sweet tooth.)

Oh god, Hysterical! Poor Case boys! Poor Momma! Maybe he could hear the crying over his music and will make a mental note? Afterall, you guys are 'new' to the neighborhood! Oh, ice cream! Summer! Yahoo!

Oh my freakin goodness, those illustrations are hilarious. Totally made my morning. Yeah, the ice cream truck skipped our street the first few times in our neighborhood after we moved in, since it is mostly older retired folks. I jumped in the car, tracked him down and told him their were now kids on our street and it would be in his best business interest not to skip it again. And he hasn't.

Sorry Nate was so upset. Not cool.

I want to hunt down your heartless ice cream man and kick him in the shin for breaking Nate's heart. Poor little boy. Poor momma.

I learned at a very young age that there is no fairness when it comes to the ice cream man.

Our Ice cream truck driver is relentless. Several times a day, including 8 pm. I like the ice cream truck as much as the next guy, but at 8 o'clock, I wish I had a sling shot or a paint ball gun, just to give him a subtle hint, you know?

That sucks! Nina would still be throwing a fit, I'm so glad there aren't ice cream trucks anywhere near our neighborhood. An aside: Mar and I watched Delirious over the weekend and all I can hear now is Alex taunting Nate in my head, in Eddie Murphy's voice.

I too have a firm rule - we never buy ice cream from the ice cream truck. I am with Maria they are relentless in our neighborhood parking on the edge of the park where all of the kids play, and running that Mr. Softie tune non-stop for hours. Our kids are good about not asking so occasionally I will get Baby Cakes an Italian ice from the cart venders that circle through the park. The Italian ice is more affordable. $4.00 for a single Eskimo Pie or Drumstick is just not in my budget.

I love the illustrations that go along with the story. We have an ice cream mini van that comes around, but by the time we hear it, I dig out my wallet and we get outside it's already gone by :( I need to work on my mom skills I guess!

yea, we still haven't told our kids that the MUSIC Truck that drives directly by our house every summer day sells ice cream and they are almost 6:)

Our local ice cream truck plays the theme to Love Story spliced with Christmas music. It's beyond creepy, just downright weird.

LOVE the drawings, esp Nate crying.

My kiddos love love love the music truck that cruises the neighborhood. Not sure when we'll fill them in on the secret to what the music is all about, perhaps when they figure out that there is no Santa?!

Nice illustrations! Really made the story.

Love the drawings as usual. Especially the tears. So sad yet too funny. There is something about that music that whips kids into a frenzy!

Do we have the same ice cream truck or something? They did the EXACT same thing to us a few weeks ago! Hmm...maybe it is aice cream truck rule or something to always leave them wanting more. Oh my...
