Nate: How come some people don't talk so much?
Laura: Some people don't like talking so much. Who in our family likes to talk a lot?
Nate with NO hesitation: Nate and mommy!
Jon laughs out loud.
Alex: Not me, I don't like to talk so much.
Sometimes it strikes me as odd that Jon and I each have a mini-me kid. Rationally I know Nate pushes my buttons because he's so much like me. It still doesn't stop from driving me crazy on tough days.
When we have rough patches, I have to remember there are many ways I'm glad he's like me. His endless enthusiasm. His bossiness. His excitement over trying new and crazy things:
How can two kids have my heart in such different ways?

I hear you on having your heart in different ways. It's so weird, isn't it? But...it's also awesome. You have a unique bond with each kid.
He sounds a lot like Elijah. Maybe that's why Elijah drives me up the wall most days, he shares my obnoxious, "say everything you're thinking" trait.

But most of all, I love how he knows himself :)
I love that fact that Nate is already thinking such deep thoughts about why different people behave in different ways.
Personally, I think that if Nate is just like you, the world is a better place for it. And, if Alex is just like Jon, the world is a better place for it. Maybe that's why they can each grab your heart so much. They are awesome!
I think it's also very smart of Alex to be able to reflect on himself like that.
I definitely agree that shared traits can make a child's behavior hard to deal with at times. Cole shares my contrary, stubborn personality and it makes me crazy! But everything is intense about that kid including our bond. My Will's reasonableness mystifies me, but I find it adorable.
YES!!! Love that hair. That is one cool dude.
