Daily gratitude

Way back on Thanksgiving, before eating we had everyone hold hands and say what they were thankful for. The next day before we ate, the boys asked to hold hands and do this again. Since then it has been a daily ritual at dinnertime.

Recently Jon was gone so I set the boys up with a picnic dinner in the backyard. I went back inside to cook myself a different meal. I looked out to see the boys sitting together, holding hands, and giving thanks together before eating.

These tiny moments that I can't capture with a camera are usually the ones I want to remember forever.

And it's moments like this that take some of the edge off that first hard year, isn't it? What a wonderful thing.

Wyatt is always the first to ask to "say prayers" when we sit down to eat right now. He says the same thing everynight. "Thank You for food, friends and family!"

I was just thinking last night, I wanted to try and video him...but then I thought maybe it was just something that was supposed to be in my heart.
LOVE.

So sweet that they did that together! We do the thankful thing at mealtimes and I find it so sweet when Baby V initiates by reaching out her hands.... if you ask her what she is thankful for she always says "juice." hee.

Beautiful. I love everything about this post. The gratitude, the picnic, the watching your life from the kitchen window.

I try for one moment of gratitude every day--its good stuff.
