The first chink in the armor

I've been pretty excited about the boys starting kindergarten. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, has warned me that my happy shiny positive attitude will turn to tears the first day the school bus hauls them away. I've said it won't be a big adjustment as they've been in day care so long, it will just be like a new school. Plus think of the money we'll save. And it will be great for them to be separated.

This morning we are going on a kindergarten and school tour and my only thought is WAHHHHHH WHEN DID MY TEENY TINY BABIES GROW UP?!?!?!!

Dude, I am going to be a blubbering crazy mess the second week of July when they start year-round school. Waterproof mascara recommendations, please.

Will and I always planned to take off the first day all our kids were in school and do crazy fun stuff. I'm not sure how easy it will be through all the emotion, but we will try to manage. And then eat cake! And maybe ice cream.
Good luck, it'll be a milestone day!

Aaaaawww, they are SO sweet!

At least you're ready for the crying - tissues and waterproof mascara in hand as you wave them off :)

Can't wait to hear how the tour goes today. We register in April but Jadyn doesn't get to tour the school or see the classrooms until the Friday before school starts, which is late August. With Nate and Alex in year-round school, you will be one of the pioneers of our May group.

It is so hard to believe when you look back at those tiny babies, isn't it? I felt the same way when C. and I. started kindergarten last fall. But in the end, they were happy tears that day. They were so excited, and we were so proud of them. And they still love to snuggle and be with us, so it didn't seem quite so heartbreaking.

When my oldest went to kindergarten it was such a joyful sorrow - incredible pride and excitement was felt by all but my first baby was going to school and she was nervous. My husband and I both teared up but we survived it. And the reunion in the afternoon was incredible.
Now, when my twins (2.75), my "babies" go to school - that will be another story. That just means I'm old and everyone is growing up too fast. i am sure there will be lots of tears.
Let us know how it goes - very excited to hear about it

Look at those precious babies...how quickly they grow up. And you are jumping right in with year round school. I am anxious to hear how it goes. I bet N&A will be so excited to go, maybe you won't have time to be sad? Or is that just wishful thinking?

I'm with you. In my head, I'm super excited for my girls to start kindergarten and for me to lose the daycare bill. But I know I'll be totally crying as well. It's such a big step! At least I have two years to prep!

Laura- I cannot believe how fast time is going as well. Our girls are turning 3 this spring, and that has me emotional so I can only imagine what kindergarten will do to me. I have a vague recollection of a post you once wrote describing in detail a messy party you threw for N+A? We are throwing a garden party, and I would love to incorporate some of the fun activities I remember you wrote about. Do you think you could email me the link to that post? I am amyyosha at gmail dot com
Thanks so much!

I feel for you...I just registered the girls for our free district pre-school this afternoon. They barely missed the cut-off date and will be almost 6 when they start kindergarten next year. anyway - hubby and I were waiting in line to register and I got teared up!!!

Awwwww. Our tinies are getting so big. We still have an entire year to prepare since mine missed the cutoff, but I am sure I will be crying and cheering all at the same time. Did you choose to split them or did the school make you? I'm fighting to keep mine together only to make homework time easier on me. =)
