One piece of advice Lesley from Barr Babies gave me was at each shoot, take one photo for yourself. I did that this week taking photos of a friend's baby and it made me realize I need to take more shots for myself when shooting other people's kids:

My rants and raves about motherhood, my five year old fraternal twin boys Nate and Alex, my fantastic husband Jon, and some pictures to go with it all.

I understand the pressure. I started my own 365 project this year and I have struggled because one day a week I leave for work about the time my boys wake up so I don't really see them. They are asleep when I get home. I didn't do it to get one great photo every day, though that is a secondary goal. My main goal is to take photos every day and capture the little moments that make our life awesome. So far in January I have taken more than 500 photos, which are candid, real-life moments. I have also taken way more photos of my boys individually than ever.
So while I don't know if I can get a great photo every day, I at least know I am recording our life the way it is, sometimes imperfect, sometimes a blur, but always worth remembering.
I did 365 a few years ago on Flickr and had to start amusing myself with photoshop to keep motivated - like digitally turning myself green and making it look like I was stomping Tokyo. I didn't make it through the year though.
Now, I am doing a 365 project blog but in arts and crafts that I make. Right after I started, I ended up on crutches so most of my photos are taken with my phone and updated that way *heh* If it wasn't for tiny portable technology, I think I'd have throw in the towel.
Your photography is lovely - it tugs at my heart :)
GORGEOUS picture!
That is all.
I understand completely.
Here is my post on what I learned from (trying to do) P365

I totally get the pressure....that is why I don't do project 365 :) Although, I DO take pictures pretty much everyday, I don't have the pressure of posting them or making sure they are perfect.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the picture you took of your friend's baby! What beautiful eyelashes!

That picture is KILLER! I wish I could get a pic of Lacey from that angle--the eyelashes and chubby cheeks are just delicious. Seriously, that is one of my favorite photos you have taken--awesome!
Beautiful photo! I always think I want to do a 52 week project or whatever, but I just don't want for it to become a "chore". I give myself 10 minutes or so at every shoot to try something new.

Well done, Laura - it is so important to listen to yourself and not let a project/goal do the opposite of what it is supposed to. I am all for trying out things and I am all for stopping if they are not working. It seems that your photography voice knows how to make you hear it, whether it is capturing that adorable profile with amazing baby eyelashes or saying that your muse is not going to deliver on some 365 project timetable.
Love the picture, gorgeous! I know you'll keep posting amazing pictures anyway, so who cares if you miss a few days here and there!
Great picture!
Also, I have a post suggestion :)
Since you have a new house and are decorating anyway would you mind showing up how you display the photos you print?
I remember you saying you print only a select few.
Right now my husband and I are working on getting printed photos up on the walls. We kind of disagree as to how it should be done.
I'd love to have your suggestions. Thanks!
That photo is simply exquisite.
I don't like pressuring myself to do stuff. There's plenty of that coming from everywhere else!
