Oh, the laughing

One of the most delightful aspects of age four is seeing the boys develop a sense of humor. Recently we were watching old videos of the boys together and we watched this one of Nate saying "mommy" when he was 10 months old (SUPER exciting for me!):

That evening, Nate pretended to be a baby again and said, "Mommy" to everything I said to him. I asked him:

Who loves cookies? Mommy.
Who has the stinkiest breath? Mommy.
Who farts the loudest? Mommy.

With each question, he laughed harder and harder. It was awesome.

Then there was the time Alex went to answer a question and accidentally belched out his answer. I thought they were going to fall out of their chairs from laughing so hard.

I read about this Maru the Cat video on a blog where the author said her kids laughed hysterically. I watched the video and it's just a cat jumping in and out of a box, nothing that funny. I showed it to the boys last night and they laughed so hard they were breathless. You would have thought it was the funniest thing they'd ever seen.

Please try showing it to your kids and let me know if they find this hilarious too.

Will have to show that to the kids when they get home later and see if it's universally funny to the under-5 set. We've got quite a list of favorites on YouTube that they ask for almost every day, and the first time they saw the OK Go video with the dogs, they about fell over on themselves.

OK - I laughed quite hard at the cat video - maybe because I have goofy cats myself? Or maybe because I have the sense of humor of a four year old!

Yeah Batman found it hilarious too. He also thinks old videos of him are the funniest thing around. Jubilee has started saying "Mama" this week and I'm starting to wish she hadn't. Like I need another person chanting my name constantly!

Maybe they can relate to the curiosity of the cat wanting to see what is inside the box? Isn't that what we usually laugh about - stuff we feel a bit (or very) guilty about because we've been there ourselves?

I think my 2 yos are too young yet to see anything but a cute jumping cat there...

But it is very funny nonetheless :P

I'll have to show that to Michael. Personally, I think it's hysterical. Especially when the cat jumps out.

And yes, the laughter in the house has been wonderful with 4.5. I can just imagine what it's like times 2.

I thought it was hilarious! I look for the hilarity in things so that I can laugh out loud.

Yep, the kids and I ALL thought it was pretty funny. Have you shown the boys the "peanut butter jelly time" video? Another much requested one in our house along with pretty much ALL the Ok Go videos (Rube Goldberg, treadmills, park and dogs)

Mine thought it was funny, but Garrett was too busy talking to laugh TOO much. And now he's recounting every little detail over. and over. and over.

Ok - we're in the minority. Girls didn't get the cat thing. But they thought Nate was HILARIOUS.

I can't wait to try the video on Cole tomorrow. Will's still up so I showed him and he laughed harder than I've ever seen him laugh from just seeing something. Awesome! Now he keeps saying, "Kitty trying to get in the box! Kitty trying to get in the box!"
