"Guess what mommy? Kid A threw up in a bucket today!"
Saturday of my Vegas trip.
Nate complained all day his stomach hurt. Laying on the couch, he puked into a bucket.
Wednesday morning before field trip, 10 days later.
"Nate, why are you limping?" "My hip hurts."
Laura thought he slept funny and would shake it off.
Thursday morning after field trip.
Doctor's trip for Nate's still hurting hip reveals it is most likely a lingering (non-contagious) infection as a result of his puke virus. Treatment plan is ibuprofen and heat packs. Because my kid is walking like a 80 year old man.
I don't think I understand the human body or science anymore.
Obligatory first field trip picture (she is tall and my boys are short, but yes, they are all 4):

Hi Laura -
I've followed your blog for some time now because I find it interesting, insightful and funny. My Mom is good friends with Roxane and we grew up in ND with your hubby's family.
Just wanted to let you know that this hip pain after an infection must be pretty common...my daughter also was walking like an 80 year old at one point and it too was diagnosed as inflammation in the hip due to an infection. It went away with no further issues.
Don't you just love all the weird stuff you get to experience with all the illnesses from daycare!
Take care,
Andrea
If I remember correctly, Karen's Michael had the hip pain thing happen as well. Freaky.
I've totally figured out the human body and science. They are part of the grand conspiracy to drive us insane. I just shrug and deal with the weird stuff.
I hope Nate is feeling better soon.
Poor kiddo. :(
Joanna was right...my Michael has had this hip pain two times in the past year or so. It's been pretty scary. Glad Nate's recovery was quick!
my littlest brother once had the flu virus travel to his gastroc muscles in his calves and he could not walk for days. it totally freaked my mom out. i was a teenager and remember it a bit. kids really do expose us to some of the craziest stuff.
