18 weeks, found out it was twins. 22ish weeks, got put on bed rest. I stayed on bed rest for 14 long weeks, nearly 100 days of laying on our couch trying to keep our babies in. It was incredibly difficult for both me and Jon. Three things kept me mentally going through that time:
- Alex & Nate
- Babycenter & blogging
I feel so privileged to have so many women in my life who help me be a better mother. Not just the women in this picture, but all the babycenter women who couldn't make it, all my friends in North Carolina, and my friends and family scattered across the country. LUCKY to have this tribe is what I am.
It seemed only right to celebrate five years and 1400 posts by eating, drinking, laughing, dancing, and chatting with these women.
I want to tell you all about the "new" people!
There was another BBC chick in town, Cathy, with her husband Cliff.
Cathy and Cliff have six kids, and Cathy has a photography business... that she started with 6 kids. And she runs. And she blogs. And she is super happy and shiny and positive. I always wonder how she does it all. This was the first time I've met her in person and now I know her secret. She is the MOST ENERGETIC person I have ever ever ever ever met. FULL of energy and enthusiasm and excitement and wow.
Y'all know I don't usually wear make up like this. I got it professionally done because Cathy took pictures of me! Hello Mondo!
You all know I have met Beth (on the left) many times. We will see her again this weekend during the Warrior Dash trip. This was my first time meeting Julie (on the right).
Rita and Lindsay came away from the NY trip with girl crushes on each other. Julie would be my girl crush from this trip. Super smart, warm, friendly, funny and a science nerd. We even lived a few blocks away from each other in Chicago. I didn't get nearly enough time with her but I know this friendship will grow over the years.
And of course last year I gushed about Rita (left) and Bridget (right), two of the most photogenic people ever.
I wish I could rock necklaces and deep red hair like they can. Sigh.
Long time readers will also remember Jen (right) from our San Diego trip. Seriously, how many people have I met??
Heidi (left)... dang. She has a special place in my heart. Not only can she rock short hair, she also loves food like I do. How she can be so cute with 3 kids and getting her master's is beyond me. When they move to their farm in the bay area, I will definitely be visiting!
You all know I love Lindsay (middle) so meet Desi (far right)... seriously look at these photogenic people!
Desi is freaking awesome. Strong, intelligent, warm, fun. You just know her boys will turn out amazing because she has such confidence and strength.
And you've already heard about Beth and Joanna many times, so I'll just include a picture. Next week, me and Maria and Joanna and 5K of mud and craziness.
There's really nothing that happened in Vegas that will stay in Vegas. It was just one big fun eating-talking-laughing trip. The last day we walked around shopping and I did see something I've never seen before (which says a lot, having lived in big cities) - a dude with a snake on the street:
This picture is for Beth's husband, who hates snakes.
And I might have been squealing a little bit when the snake started to go into Jenn's hair. Okay a lot!
Thank you ladies for another amazing trip. In this crazy world, you give me faith there are good people everywhere. Thank you for being part of my tribe the last five years and making this tiny little blog space into something very special in my life.
