Things I will miss about our home

Wednesday night I went over to the new house with a friend to do some measuring. It was surreal to see the third floor framed and I realized... this is really going to be our home.

Even though we are still staying in Cary, there are so many things I will miss about our current home and neighborhood. I will miss seeing the island where two babies crawled around chasing each other. I will miss the monstrous walk-up attic. I will miss the 2 mile commute to day care.

By far the things I will miss the most are the greenways and trails by Lake Crabtree. I never get tired of running out to this lake and through the wooded trails. One of the major reasons we moved here was to be closer to nature and to me, it doesn't get better than this. Every time I'm there, I find something new. Last week we were there at peak wildflower time.

Mom And Boys

With this photo, I am kicking off a photography experiment I've been dying to take on. Each week, I will be in front of the camera. In the 1000 pictures I took in the month of August, I was in FOUR. That is wrong, so wrong.

Will you join me? Post here every Friday to show me YOU in the camera. Show me you with your kids. Show me you with your partner. Show me you alone. Show me you. Maybe weekly is too much, so try for one photo once a month.

The only rule is that I am not allowing commentary on how bad the photo is or how it's not perfect. There are a few technical things I would change about that photo but a photo at my favorite lake with my favorite little boys is priceless!

Have ideas on what this should be called?

I was reading a blog where they did Self-Portrait Saturday. Obviously it's not Saturday but maybe something like that. I will definitely play along because I am in very few pictures too.

Yay to progress on the house. So makes the craziness of this week worth it!

Let the 30 day countdown begin.

I am in way too many posts. My goal is shooting less posed pics and just capture the sweetness (or insanity) of the moment.

Krystyn at Really, Are you Serious does something similar. I think she calls it "Mommy and Me Monday".

I know how you feel about your greenways since that is what the farm park is to me. Have you scoped new trails yet? It's going to be so much fun learning a new area and discovering all the little charms that make it home.

Post pictures of myself each week. It makes me cringe to think of, which means it's probably a great plan for me to follow. I'll let you know if a good name pops to mind.

Such a gorgeous picture!

I think I will try and join you in your self portraits, not sure how often I'll remember or like what I see, but I'll try.

That is a wonderful photo! I understand what you mean about not being in enough of the pictures. I don't have nearly enough of me with my kids, especially during their first year. I love the idea of a special day to keep it fresh in your mind to step in front of the lens. Maybe, "In Front Friday"?

Oh, I love how you framed this assignment. "No complaints, just YOU." Well done.

Show me the Mommy! P.S. Great post, and I am guilty of this too!

That is a great photo of you and your boys.

I either need to grow really long arms or learn how to use my tripod and timer because Ed does NOT take pictures and I'm tired of having no pictures of me and my boys. So I will join this challenge! Here's my first entry!

Great idea! I am in almost zero pics too, well, unless you count my feet occasionally. I seem to be addicted to taking pics of my feet in different sorts of shoes with different textured backgrounds. Do those count?

LOVE the KISSES the boys are giving you :)

I'm in. I don't appear in front of the camera very often either. I will try, starting tomorrow!

I will give it a shot (oh, I slay me) but these days it is all I can do to take a few pictures a week of anything.

Just don't call it I sh*t mys*lf. I once titled a post that and got lots of hits from people looking for women posting naked pix of themselves. Oy.

Happen to stumble upon your blog and would love to join your challenge on a Friday or two. I currently particiapte in another challenge on Fridays but I too need to get in front of the camera more often!
I like the person who suggested naming it "In Front Friday". That's a perfect title!

Oh, I love that picture! And I love our idea of being in front of the camera.
