M is for Mother. Also for Manual.

SOMEONE was in an absolutely horrific mood on Mother's Day.

MothersDay05

A truly terrible, horrible, grumpy, suckass mood.

MothersDay04

Someone was trying their hardest to ruin Mother's Day but I was not about to let that happen, OH HELL NO.

Fortunately someone else truly embraced Mother's Day. Climbed into bed with me and gave me kisses. Told me he kissed me because he loved me. Was uber super cooperative when I needed a model as I decided it was time to switch to ALL MANUAL.

I said good-bye to things like that annoying beep when my camera focuses and changed it up so I can decide where to focus my camera. Every shot on this post is SOOC except for web sharpening and OMG I'm glad I took the leap to full manual.

MothersDay02

I told someone else to suck it up, we were going on a boat for Mother's Day, and if they didn't shape up I would be mad at them the rest of the day. I might have mentioned that if they were so rude to me on Mother's Day I didn't have to be nice to them on their birthday Sunday. That one thought about it.

MothersDay06

And realized I was right.

MothersDay07

And so I got to go on my boat ride at Lake Crabtree.

AND IT WAS AWESOME. (And then I ran four miles home.)

This one learned the lesson of Mother's Day - that your mom is always right. And while our moms love us even through our terrible horrible suckass moods, we BETTER be nice on Mother's Day.

MothersDay08

Unfortunately after the boat ride, this one AGAIN learned when he runs too fast and trips, he will do a faceplant and get hurt. Good news - no burns. Bad news - slightly loose tooth. Buy stock in band-aid corporation now! We will help you turn a profit.

MothersDay09

This Mother's Day was representative of my life as a mother. Despite some tough times, I try to always focus on the positive. Nothing is ever perfect, not even Mother's Day. Except this one, he was freaking awesome all day.

LOL. Twins, the best and the worst of things all at once. I'm happy to see that Nate sucked it up and had fun for mother's day...even though I know you would have been nice to him on his birthday anyway.

The band-aide mustache is adorable, even if it does mean that Alex is hurt again.

Happy Mothers' Day!

Can you believe that it's FOUR years since May 2006. Insane.

I'm glad we've spent much of it in virtual lock-step. :)

Oh and I meant to mention this a long time ago - I Love that your fraternals look so different, but are both so ridiculously cute!

Goodness, they are GORGEOUS even though one was acting up.

Glad you got your boat trip and run in.

I can't believe they're nearly 4 - I'm still at nearly two in your archives LOL

Wow, great pictures!

Question - what do you use for lighting? I'm trying to get better at shooting, but I can't seem to get white balance right, no matter what I do!

I love how they are so different yet so alike! Would drive me absolutely insane since I have enough personalities to cover several people (nice me, mean me, weird me, aggressive me, weepy me...geez).

You are great with the camera on manual! And I'm glad you had a great Mother's Day - that looked like tons of fun!

Ah yes, the honest truth of two young kids. Sometimes it's lovely, sometimes it ain't.

All in all, definitely sounds like the day ended in the WIN column, and that's about the best we can ask for, huh?

I love this post. Glad you got Nate smiling. And go you with total manual. If I can ever figure out how to manually focus, I'll try it on my camera! (I'm a long way away from that, but you're inspiring!) Happy Mother's Day!
