Sometimes I gloss over what it's like when Jon is gone. He's been traveling since the boys were 3 months old. For the most part, I know what I'm doing and the boys and I have a routine. Some weeks I barely hold it together.
This week my cup almost ran over with a contractor coming in to install window treatments, Alex busting his face (the insanity around that & a doctor's appt), a new mother's helper to train, a dentist appointment (more working at night to make up for missed hours), the kids hacking the dogwood, and the ice cream pizza fiasco on top of working outside the home and taking care of the house and kids.
It all melted away last night at dinner. Alex choked on his milk and it came spewing out his mouth and forcefully out of his nose, his busted up and scraped up nose. I was (SO VERY) happy to have a second set of hands to deal with this. After he was done choking he said, "That wasn't supposed to happen!" I laughed and laughed.

(His puppy dog eyes suit being injured very well, huh?)
(Don't worry, I got bigger band-aids since then.)
And now that Heather has had a chance to check out the photos I took for them, I wanted to share two other favorites from the session.
Baby #1 (no crazy eye processing, natural catchlights)

Baby #2

He choked milk out through his nose? Poor Alex. He's having a bad week. I wish he could blog, because he'd have some good posts this week.
I'm glad you got Jon back for the night.
Your pictures rock!
I'm so craving "normal life stuff" right now. I hope it is in my future.
Why were you working outside of the home? What is your job situation now?
Oh man, poor Alex. As if having millk come out your nose isn't hard enough, he had it on top of his injury.
Glad Jon could be home for an evening!
Pictures = Gorgeous
But I am confused. I thought Jon was going to get traveling LESS or almost not at all after the recent company changes. Did I miss something?
At any rate you have a comrade in arms b/c Joe was gone for a week, home this week and now traveling to Japan for TWO weeks (I hate when he is gone over weekends too) and we are doing all this whilst closing escrow on the house. I am already planning my de-stress rituals for the evenings.
I believe I remember shooting milk out my nose once when I was a kid. Not fun but pretty funny to see.
I am glad you survived and I give you major kudos for being able to do this week in and week out. And heck you see me with my meltdowns. I think you do more than an admirable job of keeping it together.
The thing that pushes me over the edge are messes. I can mostly handle it if they are fighting or cranky, but last night both girls dumped their glasses of juice (at different times of course) because they didn't like it. And that was when I lost it.
Poor Alex! But yes, those eyes are perfect for injuries!
Wow, what a week you've had! Sometimes it just feels like the universe is just piling it on. Ugh. But glad to hear of the bright spots, too.
Beautiful photos of the V boys!
I totally feel for ya on Jon being gone. Mark works nights and sleeps during the day, and I cant tell you how many times a day I think "PLEASE get up now!! PLEASE!" Hang in there! Glad you have an extra set of hands around now!!
The picture of Heather's "baby #1" is amazing! I hope our professional pictures turn out this good!
