Deep thoughts at the dentist office

As I sat holding Alex at the dentist's office while he SCREAMED the entire time his teeth were cleaned, examined, and flourided, I had to wonder - what kind of classes do they teach in dentistry school to prepare for this? Do they bring small children in so the dentists get practice? Or do they ask adults to scream, cry at full volume, kick, and yell, "NO! IT HURTS! STOP! STOP HURTING ME!" Also how on earth did Alex manage to scream full sentences with that little mirror and prodding pokey thing in his mouth at the same time?

On a completely different note, if you are interested in signing up for Mondo Beyondo, click the little box on my sidebar when you sign up. A small donation goes to help a fellow classmate pursue her dream of teaching English in India and taking photos (at no extra cost to you). I can't tell you how much this class has energized me and completely changed my perspective in life.

On yet another completely different note, I got to visit my friend Jen and her daughter at home yesterday. It was sheer bliss holding a sleepy newborn again. Jen has agreed to let me take practice pictures of her family this weekend and I'm hella nervous, which is dumb and crazy because the beautiful subjects will make it easy!

Make that a double Starbuck's day!

And your friend looks way too pretty for having a newborn. Can't wait to see pics!

I'm so sorry Alex wasn't happy at the dentist. I wish I could loan you ours; they're amazing!

I'm seriously considering Mondo Beyondo. However, first on the agenda - discussing antidepressants with the therapist. Ugh.

What a gorgeous photo. Do all moms think other moms look amazingly young and fresh with their newborns, or was I the only one with dark circles, limp hair, and twin skin?

Yes. They do bring in screaming kids to the dental school clinics. My grandmother worked at one growing up, and my college roommate was at UNC for dental hygiene.

Have fun with the picture taking!

Wow. What Lindsay said. She looks amazing for just having had a baby. I wish I looked half that good.

Alex at the dentist is like Max at the allergist except that Max was too strong for me.

Looks like you're already on your way to taking great pictures of that sweet little baby.

I have wondered the same thing about dentists. Around here the only have pediatric dentists for the kids, for whatever reason the 'regular' dentists want adults only, and direct the children to the ped dentists. I wonder if they take an extra class on wiggly and screaming kids.

Alex was very much like Daphne when we brought her to the dentist yesterday. She screamed so much that it was hard for the hygienist to clean her teeth. Thankfully, Daphne stopped screaming and crying before the cleaning ended. Later on, our trusted cosmetic dentist (Maryville, TN area) did the dental check-up. Our eldest daughter's teeth were also examined for Invisalign treatment since we really trusted the quality dental (Maryville, TN) services offered by the dentist.

By the way, the newborn baby is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing, LauraC!
