Because we want to cram more stuff in our one car garage

Adult swim class was incredible. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning to swim. The group ranged from people scared of water to people who need to work on stroke development. I got exactly the help I needed and by the end of the first class, I was able to swim quite a number of freestyle laps. I need more work on my breathing and my backstroke is still a hot mess, but I'm confident this is exactly what I needed.

The only downside is I didn't want to wear ear plugs so I could hear the teacher, but robo ear still has water in it. I can't use ear drops in that ear without searing pain so lesson learned to use an ear plug.

The boys' swim class was hilarious. It is only two girls, Nate, and Alex. It TRULY highlighted the differences between boys and girls at this age. The girls sat on the side, tried not to get splashed, and listened to the teacher. Our boys were super excited - splashing, wiggling, jumping in unexpectedly, screaming, generally acting crazy.

In addition to visiting Irene and family for the last time before the babies come, we also had some other excitement at Casa Case. Santa brought Skuut (balance) bikes for the boys quite some time ago and the boys still don't understand them or enjoy them. After Nate had another tricycle accident that resulted in another skinned knee, we decided to get the boys bikes with training wheels. We picked the boys up a little early Friday and took the bikes to an unused parking lot.

To say they loved them would be an understatement.

Nate immediately knew what to do and took off. Alex needed a little help understanding braking but he only needed five minutes until he was tearing around the parking lot. They spent an hour biking and only hunger made us all go home.

And the bikes themselves are ALL BOY. They are also the shortest bikes they make, at a whopping 12 inches.

I have an idea of what we'll be doing this summer! Look at these happy faces!

If you know anyone in the market for two Skuut bikes, let me know! Or if you're local and want to try them before purchasing, we have two!

Adorable! They look like they are having a BLAST!
Was this there first time on a "big boy" bike? Brian wants to get Aaron and Brady two-wheeler's for their 3rd birthday (July) but I think they're still young. I'd rather make them Christmas presents so we can bust them out NEXT spring. I use your boys as a benchmark of what's to come in the future so...interested in your thoughts!

Super cute pics as always. What a way to spend a Friday afternoon.

Love love love, as always. We got tricycles last summer and the kids didn't quite get it, but I'm interested to see if they can figure out the mechanics this year.

Can't wait to see the pics when I get home. William has been showing some interest in "big kid" bikes lately, but he seems okay on his tricycle. What kind of tricycle does Nate keep falling from? Does he fall when he tries to make tight turns? Is the 2-wheeler with training wheels more maneuverable? Hmmmm.

Water in your robo ear? What does that sound like?

LOL about the boys and girls at the swim lessons. Some more girls moved into our neighborhood and yesterday they were out playing with dolls. Michael was clearly disgusted when he got outside and discovered what they were doing. So different than boys.

The pictures of the boys on the bikes are great. I used to poo-poo bike helmets...until the head on the bike was my little baby's.

I can't wait until our family can all bike around together (it will be a while, of course, since our youngest isn't even 1 yet). Looks like you all had a great time!

We are having a really hard time getting Finn (3 and a half) to learn how to ride a bike. I feel like it's something he should already know how to do, and it has been frustrating trying to teach him. I think part of it is the tricycle we are using - the pedals are so little that it's hard for him to get them moving/gain any momentum. I'm considering buying him a bike like the ones you just got your boys, but I fear then I'll just have ANOTHER bike gathering dust, with nowhere to store it. Any tips on how to teach my little guy how to pedal?

Yes! Glad swimming went well other than an ear plug.

Cooper got a 12 inch bike from his Papa O when we first moved to TN and he LOVES it. He then got a bell for it from Papa O for Christmas which makes it EVEN BETTER than before. Last night he asked me to take off the training wheels-- he's not ready for that yet though.

Love the giant helmets on little kids LOL. We got J a "big kid" bike last year and he was too young, preferred the tricycle. This year he's riding all over the place on it. It was funny the other day he was on the bike and he looked down and said, "Hey! What are those two little wheels on the back??" He had JUST noticed after a year that he had training wheels LOL.

I really wish we could find a swim class that fits my weird work schedule, for me and the kids. I can swim but I want to try to do a sprint triathlon next year and I REALLY need to learn the right strokes, breathing, etc.

Cool bikes! BTW - Your Mondo Beyondo dreaming inspired me to start a "project"! Thanks!!

I love that they get the bikes. Maggie still hasn't yet but we need to get out more with both bigger kids so they can ride until it gets too hot.

And glad to see that you are enjoying your swim class. That's excellent!

Hurray bikes! Lucas was just saying last night that he's taking the training wheels off the girls' ... they've had them since Christmas 2008.

Now you make me want to find a swim class ... although it gets expensive when you add in the babysitter. :(

JTC is starting to experiment with his balance bike recently. However, we inherited a bike with training wheels this weekend, and he was ALL OVER the place. Loved it. I am hoping they will compliment each other.

Oh my. Your boys should go swimming with my girls! They will be lucky if they don't get drowned! My girls will not be sitting on the side avoiding getting wet!
