(Project 365 - day 8 - decided to go straight-out-of-camera today):

My first experience with computers was in the fifth grade. My elementary school had some Radio Shack Tandy computers and as rewards for good grades and good behavior, we got to play this Alaskan gold rush game (anyone remember the name?).
I remember that first computer as being one of the coolest things I had ever seen. It never ceases to amaze me that at age 3, my boys can play games on my iphone or open a computer, open a browser, and play an online game. The technology advances in the last 25 years have been astounding and it makes me wonder what technology they will be teaching their kids to use.

I think the game was called "Gold Rush." Original, I know. Our school computer was an Apple IIe, and we got to play Oregon Trail when we were good.
I'm scared I won't be able to keep up with Cameron when she starts really getting into technology! Ditto on the Apple IIe and Oregon Trail. I actually downloaded the game again while I was in business school to pass along some more boring classes. It seemed like Kristin (my sister, natch) got sick and died every single time. Sorry, Kristin!
Dude, we had the Trash-80's as well. I think I was in fourth grade though when I first used it. I even remember word processing on it (as opposed to using a word processor)
My sister's fiance was astonished the day Michael took his laptop from him and started navigating an online game using the touch pad. Our kids won't even know what it's like to talk on a phone with a cord.
Batman knows how to play a few school games on my computer. I was impressed how quickly he learned to use a mouse! I remember the first time I used a computer too. We actually owned one back in the early 90's. I'm proud to say that I still remember how run MS DOS.
Remember how you used to have to type in commands? Like C://RUN and crap like that?
Maya is an expert on the iphone, too and she actually shows the other kids how to do some of the games. It makes me wonder what our kids'kids will be doing!
I'm glad he's not feeling too terribly sickly. Keep yourself healthy, if you can!
Mel and Jessie's classroom actually has a computer set up with toddler games on it as one of their activity centers.
Do you work your full day when you have a sick little one?
Haha this is the kind of thing that makes me feel old. I still remember the day when I was around 6 when my dad (who was and is very tech-savvy) brought home a brand-new Commodore 64. We were the first people I knew to have a personal computer. My dad was so proud that my twin sis and I could write programs in BASIC (yes, I said BASIC). We thought we were so cool with our giant floppy disks.
And now I watch J daily turn on the computer, click on the internet explorer icon, type in his favorite html address and start a game, all without my help.
Glad Nate's feeling a little bit better.
I'll have to be very careful that I don't nurture COnnor as his dad is PATHETIC when sick and I have NO sympathy whatsoever. I say "try being a woman" :)
your photo (and son) is beautiful
We are also amazed at Lana's ability to navigate the touch pad on the computer to play sesame street games.
Sorry Nate is sick, poor little dude.
