The New Year's Eve post that was five years in the making

I've clearly documented that Jon and I hate New Year's Eve. It never lives up to expectations. Ever since I met Jon, we stay in for New Year's and having a ROCKING party of two. Every year we have a theme - Hawaiian, tapas, fondue - and we have fun reflecting over previous years. This NYE we spent a lot of time talking about how this year will be ten years since we met.

NYE 2004 we drank from two famous tiki cups with hopes for fertility in the upcoming year. It clearly worked. It seemed only fitting to celebrate the five year anniversary of that tiki celebration with some more tiki drinks.

For Project 365 day 13 I present Nate and Alex's first tiki drinks, NYE 2009.

(Bonus points if you can name the tv show on in the background. Clearly our TiVo habits have changed a little in the last five years.)

I love it! Great pic, I bet the kids got a huge kick out of the funny drinks.

And Michele beat me to it, totally Dinosaur Train. My kids spent half of dinner last night telling me about Morris the Stegosaurus.

We feel the same way about NYE. This year we let thegirls stay up until midnight, while we struggled to stay awake. It was fun, but I am glad it only comes once a year.

Fantastic picture!

New Year's Eve is our anniversary-of-meeting. We stay in do a big old jigsaw puzzle and imbibe red wine. No champagne because Lucas doesn't like the stuff. Last year was the first year the girls joined us with their own new jigsaw puzzle.

This year, I went to bed early. It's not like Lucas was home anyway. :)

Seriously, those Tiki cups would go the way of ginger bread houses if I were you. I mean, yeah, they worked great, but I think you should avoid them from now on.

A Apatosaurus
B Brachiosaurus
C Corythosaurus
D Deinonicous

Yeah, I know what show that clip is from.

Love it!
We feel the same about New Year's. Even when I was younger I always volunteered to babysit on that night!

That picture is so cute and with the added meaning, it's just really really sweet!! We do our own NYE too. This year was apple pie and peanut butter cups for dinner (we were both starting a diet the next day) and three episodes of Burn Notice. And we go to bed at 10:30 like every night :)

Cute!

Obviously I have not caught enough Dinosaur Train to recognize your clip, I was going to say that it looked like a backyardigan!
