After going to a college that was 75% men, one of the remaining mysteries to me was "Why does the man cold exist?"
This morning Nate was adamant about not getting out bed so I went downstairs with Alex. A few minutes later, Nate came downstairs whimpering and went straight to my arms for a hug. I asked what was wrong and he said, "I'm siiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!" A quick forehead check confirmed he had a fever (took his temp and gave him tylenol as well).
The moping! The sad expressions!
I want you to snuggle me, I'm so sick.
I can't do anything, I'm so sick.
I want to watch tv all day, I'm so sick.
I fell for it, hook line and sinker. AHA! After years of wondering, I realized the man cold is genetically programmed into little boys and nurtured by their mothers. Now I must figure out a process to stop boy colds from maturing into man cold, but I can't because I'm too busy making my little baby feel better.
(Carrie forwarded me this man cold video and I still laugh watching it.)

OMG! I never realized that I might be responsible for some poor woman having to deal with Michael's man colds when he is grown up. Maybe I should do something about it.
Nah, I have to deal with Andy's man colds, let some other woman suffer my fate as well. Bawhahahah!
I hope Nate feels better quickly.
And here I am feeling so much guilt asking Bryan to pick up the boys yesterday because I couldn't get out of bed to do it myself. Huh.
Awww, poor Nate! Hope he's better soon. As for the Man Cold, LMAO. Except I'm one of the lucky ones. Ed mostly wants to be left alone when he's sick.
Fortunately my husband is rarely sick so I haven't had to deal with this yet! What school did you go to? My school was also 70% men (Carnegie Mellon) when I started in (ahem) 1995.
Ned is sick now and I've been coddling him. Must stop now! My husband always seems to get whatever I have but a million times worse. Me thinks he may just be getting "man sick".
Oh No! They are BORN with that gene??? Man Cold is one of the worst/annoying things around... somehow I think you will find a way to work this out for Nate. Patent your plan and make millions!
ok, here i was thinking that just *my* hubs was the biggest baby on the planet when he got a cold! good to know that he isn't. or maybe that's *not* a good thing. well, whatever. anyway, i hope Nate feels better super soon! you crack me up. thanks for cracking the case of the man cold!
Hysterical! I forwarded the video to my best friend whose husband def suffers from this! So funny! thanks for that laugh.
OMG, my husband is the worst with man colds. Once he stayed home from work and them complained that our house wasn't a good place to be sick because it was too loud... ya think? We have two babies! I told him to go to his mother's house!
I'm going to have to be prepared for my first boy cold. Together we can break the cycle! Oh, who am I kidding? I have a pretty good feeling I'll cave as well!
Hey Laura!!!
Yes, they seem to be able to DO IT RIGHT UP! Marcus is something else when he isn't feeling well. Man colds... they kill me!
Hilarious! LOL!
I hope Nate is feeling better soon.
Never gave it much thought that the man cold came from the boy cold. What amazed me about Todd is that he has gone through several surgeries and hardly complained. But give him a cold and it's like he is unable to do anything!!
OMG that was hilarious! Although Jim is rather wimpy when he has a cold, Katie inherited my drama gene times 20 and is much much worse. She is just like Nate so what does that mean, she is going to get man colds when she gets bigger? Or do women just learn to get over themselves eventually while men never learn that lesson?
So funny. I guess we do just perpetuate it. I guess it is a passive aggressive move towards our future daughter in laws. We might as well start now I think it takes a lot of practice to become a mother in law! :)
