And how was your Monday night?

First Alex pooped in his underwear by accident. It was truly an emergency, he was trying to get my help when it came out.

The boys played in the shower for a long time, laughing, enjoying themselves. Then Alex started screaming because he realized he was going to poop again. I ran into the bathroom, grabbed Alex by the arm, and practically threw him onto a little potty as he held his hand to his butt.

You know where this is going.

Because of the velocity and trajectory at which I grabbed Alex, the poop flew across the room. It landed on my plush new bath mat and rolled across half of it. My beautiful brand new bath mat, a replacement for one I've lobbied for YEARS to replace, all covered in skid marks.

Did I mention Jon is in Calgary? No backup. Clean up? All mine. So to answer your question, no, I don't want to hear about how your kids were potty trained in three days and have never had an accident. (I've got one of those too.)

At least he didn't poop in the shower?

Oh my...at least you didn't post a pic of the poor bathmat. I am no potty expert, but what if you had brought the potty to the child instead of the child to the potty?! Ha ha.

You know I feel your pain on this one. Sorry all around.

Last night we had run from mommy the min I opened the door. I literally was out of breath by the time I got under our bed to get him out.

Add to that he rolled around so much it was so smushed up and down both legs. Convincing him to help clean up turned into fight with now spitting involved.

Did I add that the dog also pooped under the Christmas tree too yesterday. My life is poop!

yeah.. I feel your pain sister. Maybe Project Enlightenment offers a full bar if I take a parenting workshop.

That's one of those if-you-don't-laugh-you'll-cry moments. I'm LOL at "velocity and trajectory." Don't know why that struck me as so funny. But honestly, the shower would've been better than the new bath mat, IMO. Still, not a whole lot of time to think or evaluate. At least he's trying, right? Sounds like he's really really close. Hang in there!

Solo parenting blows.

My kids held it together pretty well yesterday, but I spent all night cleaning up (and stepping in) dog puke.

BOOOOOOOOOO.

Stupid Canada.

I emailed Irene and Beth on this.

Nate was still in the shower! With a screaming pooping Alex, I did not have the capacity to deal with a screaming Nate if he got pooped on.

See, in my house, we have never had a potty training accident. That would be because my kid screams at the mere mention of putting on underwear. Your story makes me feel better because even though I'll be sending Michael to college in diapers, at least I don't have poop on my bath mat.

Wait, I don't think I have my priorities straight. Scratch that.

I feel the same way as Beth on this. I once had a beautiful camera print/signed print and my son (who was training) didn't aim very well as he had to go bad. Needless to say he peed right all over the frame. Soaked the print. Thankfully I have one left, and I have it wrapped up on the top shelf of my closet. I think I will wait until Courtney is in Kindergarten LOL.

I feel your pain. Potty training/accidents one of the most frustrating parts of having kids.

If it makes you feel any better, events like this are so entirely commonplace in our house that it would never even occur to me to blog about it. Ah, the joys of a child with GI problems...

From past experience, I'm sure after a run through the washer, your bath mat will look good as new!

And I feel ya about solo parenting...hope today is better!

Ugh. There's not much more to say than that. Hope today is better!

Mmmm...we had a similar Monday night with Finley, however, ours was liquid. Two accidents later and I threw the towel in- PULL UP for the rest of the day! I feel for you...

OH MAN! You couldn't have made that up if you tried! Lol. Sorry you had to live it though!

Just wanted to let you know that your bath mat will probably wash up really nice if you have a front loader. Of course, I don't know this from experience, because my child potty trained in 3 days and never has accidents (wink wink;)

Wow....wow....

I usually love reading your blog and getting to look forward to so much fun with my boys...

wow... diapers don't sound all that bad now! Hope you can hang in there until Jon gets back! Good luck!

Hopefully the rug is machine washable...

Hate, hate, hate poop in the tub/shower incidents - but they make for such funny stories!

I feel your misery. One of our girls likes to wait until we are on the expressway, past any possible bathroom, to announce she has to go potty. For extra fun, she'll whine and fidget the whole way to the next available bathroom. It's not like we don't ask her a dozen times before we get in the van if she has to go potty.

I'll take poop on the floor over poop in the bathtub any day!

Haha. I love hearing poop stories. Is that wrong?

Not looking forward to going through potty training again with Ian and Mira.

And I didn't see your comment to me as anything but helpful. I feel like the worst mother ever for putting a lock on her door. She tried the peeing in bed trick, which strikes me as a real case of "it hurts her more than it hurts me".

Oy! The good news is I am reading this on Wednesday and it is OVER for ya! :) I love the part about not wanting to hear about other's potty training triumphs. I LOVE it. I have heard SO many stories about how "my child was potty trained at 18 months" that I want to puke.

I have pushed it back again until Jared's surgery has past. It will be a first of the year start off I think. Anyways, thanks for the humor despite the loss of the bathroom rug.

Dont worry I had a pantie pooper too! I can totally relate. However, your post made me laugh harder than I have in weeks. So even if it wasnt worth the clean up for you, it was for me. thank you for making my day brighter. You know I will giggle over this one all day. Kaylyn

I can only imagine the things that will come in our potty training days...
I love that you keep it real. And I was able to laugh because it wasn't happening to me. Thanks for sharing the not-so-great pooping stories and the great bring a tear to my eye ones. I guess parenting is a mix of both.
