A post script to my story yesterday

Upon arriving at home from school yesterday, Nate proceeded to almost shut Alex's fingers in the inside part of the door jam (the one near the hinges). The only thing that stopped Alex from having crushed fingers was me screaming STOP! NATE! STOP! (One of our naming prerequisites was something easy to yell. This has come in handy - NaynaynaynaynayNATE!!)

Since Thursday's demonstration did not include the other part of the door jam, I decided to use the pretzel trick Ann mentioned in her comment except we did not have any pretzels. I decided a pita chip would be big enough. I would put the pita chip in the door, close the door, and break the pita chip to get it through their heads and then this would never happen in my house again.

I gathered the boys and lined up the pita chip. I closed the door and yes, part of the pita chip fell to the floor. However the majority of the pita chip ended up crushed in the doorframe and stuck to the door. The boys found this hilarious and Alex rushed to pick up pieces and eat them.

LauraC, yet again proving that book smarts do not equal street smarts.

I thought you were going to say they begged you to let them try crushing the pita chips. Yep. I think we've all had these moments where our lessons completely backfire.

Well, I'm mentally wincing even imagining the pita chip but I also saw my sister get her finger broken by having a door open on it. To this day I still shudder at that memory.

LOL! I just wanted to let you know that yesterday I stepped out the back door to shake out a tablecloth leaving Batman inside. Yup, you guessed it, he locked me out. What is with kids and locking doors lately? I knocked politely and asked him to unlock it, which he did. I saved the yelling for when I got inside.

I totally agree with the "what is it with door locking lately" comment!! Konnor has been slamming and/or locking the doors constantly!! I too had to tell him a few days ago that it could really hurt coles fingers, and what did he do....giggle devilishly...UGH

Hi Laura! Haven't commented in awhile, so "hi!"

I loved the post on your other site about your home. Absolutely lovely!

As for the door thing, I did a demo with F and J using q-tips. They got the concept pretty quickly.

Hope you are gearing up for a great Thanksgiving!

No comment. Just me snickering in the background...
