The boys brought home their first artwork from school almost three years ago. They finger-painted little wooden pumpkins for Halloween and they were so precious we took pictures of the boys with their pumpkins and have stored them in the attic for the future (
see the pictures here!). Since then, they have brought home a staggering amount of artwork. We display about 10 pieces for each child in our home office and the rest gets recycled. The teachers always put their names on the artwork but this week was an Exciting! New! Development! In! Artwork!

Nate has been able to write his name for awhile but this was the first time he came home from school having labeled his own artwork. I asked what this was and he said it was a crazy rainbow. He has written his name of every piece of art this week. It is safe to say I need to stop calling him my baby.

That is awesome -- what a great job at his name, it is so clear and well written. Go Nate!
Wait, we have to stop calling them "our baby" when they can write their name? Never! (It hasn't stopped my mom either. She still introduces me as her baby.)
I love kid art from school (although at this point in Milo's development the teachers are still heavily involved!), am getting ready to laminate some to give to the grandparents as gifts. (At least I hope they consider that to be a gift and not a recyclable item.)
That's great! Go Nate!
We too had tons of projects come home from day care. My favs were the ones that would have buttons glued on and the kids would pull them off and try to eat them.
Dude, no way! He can spell his name? Awesome!

Way to go, Nate!
I played along, too:
Phone Photo Friday - Namaste
Awesome!!!
Yes, the artwork problem. I feel so bad throwing it away, but it's obvious we can't keep it all. I do sneak it into the trash though, the night before the trash goes out, so there is not chance they'll find it and be sad.
We hung a clothesline on the wall in the playroom to display their art and change it out every once in a while.
But I just bought some laminating sheets at OfficeDepot last week and we're going to try making placemats out of some of it. For us, the grandparents, etc. We have a laminator at work. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Ahh! I know what this feels like! And it feels grrrrrrrreat! I will never tire of the learning unfoldment I witness in my children.
