For about a week after Alex potty trained, he would wake in the middle of the night and cry for a few minutes. This is par for the course with Alex. Any developmental leaps cause night wakings. In this case, all we needed to do was go in, put his blanket on him, and he went right back to sleep. I find it so interesting that when he is going through these huge changes, he needs extra comfort throughout the day and night.
One morning he woke up crying that his belly hurt. I told him it was because he was hungry, so he had some breakfast and was fine. At bedtime he said his belly hurt again, so I gave him some food. Nate is very good at watching Alex and then using tactics to manipulate us. A couple of days ago, Nate said his belly hurt and we ignored it because he lies to us to get attention or stall at bedtime. In the meantime, they both have rivers of snot coming from their noses and Alex has a serious cough.
I woke up yesterday with my belly hurting SO BAD, and I feel a cold coming on. Yes, I know this is karma.
But dang karma, why you gotta give me my first illness in 8 months right before we go on vacation???

Bummer, Laura. Hope you get well soon!
Don't you love it when karma bites you in the bum? I hope your tummy and your cold is feeling better asap!
Seriously, you got a cold b/c you were run down from your terrible week, not b/c of karma. Take good care of yourself.
Colds love to wait for vacation time to kick in. I hope you feel better quickly and that everyone is healthy for vacation.
Speaking of lying to stall at bedtime. Last night Michael told me that he needed to go down stairs to poop. "Are you just saying that so you can stall bedtime?" "Yes" Kids!
Oh no! Feel better.
LOL, Joanna. That must be a classic technique taught in the Stalling 101 class! I've fallen for it a couple of times, because, you know, what if he REALLY DOES NEED TO POOP? What if this is it--this is our chance? This is the time he'll actually POOP ON THE POTTY! LOL. After the third time, I figured it out. I'm smart that way!
Overload of Vit C and zinc to the rescue! Hope this is a 24 hour bug thing brought on by traveling husbands out of country on the week you are trying to leave town.
You could always take Bill's approach to colds, take so much medicine that you are litteraly comatose to knock it out.
Oh no! Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Meditation and orange juice. If that doesn't work, try bribing God ;)
Dang! That stinks! Feeling sick before vacation. I'm with Heather- vitamin C it up. Feel better!
