Burnout

Have you ever had that feeling that it's been too long since you had a vacation and your life has been really stressful and there's too much on your to-do list and you realize having two three year olds is REALLY HARD and all you really want is to get on a plane to a place where you can sit by a lake in a hammock and drink a big glass of wine and think about nothing except just enjoying life?

Oh wait, that's me.

Burned out.

I've got no cute stories about the kids today, sorry. You'll have to make do with the previous 1100 entries.

I found a sliver of inspiration this week. I stumbled upon a college acquaintance's photography blog (Caltech is only 800 undergrads, you kinda know everyone) and he had some stunning photographs taken from his iphone. It led me to an entire website dedicated to iphone photography.

After seeing the Phone Photo Friday pictures, I've decided I'm going ahead with the Friday play-along. It won't be this Friday or next Friday as I'm dedicating those two days to unburning out on vacation, but get your pictures ready. You might surprise yourself with the quality of pictures you can take from a camera phone.

The other nice thing about cell phone photography is that it is fairly easy to snap pictures of people who are generally not interested in being photographed. Like Jon.

You have certainly earned your upcoming vacation. I hope it gives you some time to decompress. I can't wait to see what you come up with for your iPhone posts. Don't worry, I have plenty of pictures from mine to share as well.

(great picture of Jon. If your iPhone goes missing, I know who you should interrogate first.)

I hope your vacation is just what you need to recharge your batteries. (Although Ed always says a vacation with the kids is not a vacation! LOL.) Can't wait to hear about the trip when you get back. And I'm looking forward to playing along with Phone Photo Friday.

Great shot of Jon, btw. I took a picture of the boys in their car seats this morning. Seth was asleep, and they were holding hands. So sweet!

Glad you are getting a much needed vacation soon! Here I'm having a related condition, end of summer freak out -- we go on a trip in < 4 weeks and when we return, the semester starts. Very uncool.

I've been in burnout mode for a few weeks now. I'm desperate for a vacation but I can't take any time off before my maternity leave. Hubby had the nerve the other day to say, "Well at least you'll be home for a couple months when the baby is born." Um, since when was being home with a newborn and a 3-year-old a "vacation?" LOL.

Burnout is exactly what Bill is experiencing. Its a popular topic in our house lately. We are going to San Diego for 4 days just to sit on the beach, but he is convinced he needs like a week or more to fully recharge. I hope your vacation gives you an opportunity to take a deep breath and spend some fun family time together without distraction.

After the weeks you have had recently, it isn't surprised you are burned out! Craziness! And I hear you. We too are going on vacation and I can't wait. The thing is the packing. The thought of the next few days of packing, schlepping, cleaning, etc has me feeling even MORE overwhelmed. But once you are there, you will be fine. And the 'to-do' list will be non-existent. ENJOY! We'll look forward to fun posts when you return.

Wishing you a super relaxing vacation and whining-free travel (we can all hope).

BTW I shot a too funny pic involving the word "donkey" on Harvard's campus last week with my iPhone. Immediately thought of you!

So I will post it next Friday play along (minus the reason why, althought your story is WAY to funny not to bring it life on this blog if you have not already).

I hear you on the burnout - I'm right there with you!!! I have a girls vacation coming in one month and it couldn't be a day sooner. Have a great one and relax relax relax!

In answer to your questions: Yes, Yes, and Yes! Enjoy your trip.

I thought the play along is a great idea btw. I just happened to be without cell phone at the moment. Jared and I share one and he is the one usually in possession so that I can reach him.

For someone who is burned out and has no cute stories to share...that was an awesome post!

I take and post pics from my phone all the time. LOVE IT! So easy, fast, and often surprisingly clear.

Hammock, wine, & nothing to do...SO my kind of vacation. ENJOY!
