4th of July visit to Florida

We spent 4th of July weekend visiting my family in Florida. While the boys are getting to be seasoned travelers, they never tire of watching the activity on the tarmac.

As the boys get older, it is interesting to see what fascinates them about a new location. This trip, lizards and squirrels were highlights for them. I'm not as adept as my sister at catching lizards so I never managed to snatch one for the boys. They still had a blast feeding peanuts to the squirrels in my dad's backyard.

We also visited my brother's new house. It is a true bachelor pad as there was a stack of sombreros in the dining room. Of course it screamed photo op to me. (We also visited grandma Jen but forgot pictures. It was a whirlwind trip.)

As everyone across the country celebrated our country's independence, the true highlight for me was getting to spend time with one of my heroes, my grandpa Joe. Both of my grandpas were in the military, fighting to keep our country's freedom. I can't imagine a better way to spend the 4th of July.

Great pictures of the boys. Where they actually cooperative for pictures this time around, or did that take some bribery?

Sounds like a blast! We're headed down to that fair state on Thursday, but I fear it will not be quite as much fun... we'll see.

Oh what fun! Adorable pics. My girls are all about the lizards too. I hope to God they never get fast enough to catch one though.

I can't imagine a better way to spend the 4th of July either.

I have to say I was reading an old blog post of mine where you asked how I got the kids to cooperate and take such good pictures and now I wonder the same of you. It seems like all the shots of Nate and Alex are just so awesome. So many framers you are going to run out of room on your walls.

BTW - Based on a rec from your other blog I am reading The Lovely Bones and I just have to thank you for turning me on to this chilling and engrossing read. Thanks!

LOVE those sombreros. That is hilarious. Although I think if I were those squirrels, I would run from the kid chucking peanuts at me, even if they were peanuts.

I just wanted to come back to this post and look at that awesome picture you have with you and the boys and your hero, Grandpa Joe. Please know that although I never met him, when I saw your Facebook status, that is the first thing I thought - this was her Grandpa Joe, her hero who fought for our country who she just posted about and just visited in Florida, who the boys just got to see. I can think of no better way you could have honored him. My sympathies Laura.
