For the last few weeks, Nate and Alex have been chatting up a storm after bedtime lights out. They never get out of their beds. They sit there and talk and sing and laugh. This is all instigated by Alex. If Alex is awake, he will keep egging Nate on and Nate always responds.
I don't have a problem with the chatting so we try not to go in, but sometimes we hear conversations that alarm us. Lately those conversations have been about taking off pajamas, so we often double-check on them before we head to bed ourselves.
Saturday night, Jon went to check on the boys before our bedtime. Nate was above his covers fully clothed. Alex had his covers pulled all the way up to his chin. This was odd, so Jon felt around Alex's bed to see if his pajamas were in the bed. No pajamas under the sheets, but Jon did find Alex's diaper. Not on Alex's body. Which meant the diaper was not on Alex.
Using a flashlight, he lifted up Alex's covers to find Alex all snuggled up without a single stitch of clothing on.
I'm almost too scared to write this but I think the inevitable poop-in-bed-horror-story may be soon.

The only thing I have to say is Duct Tape. Lots and lots of duct tape.
See, and this is exactly why I shot M down when he suggested we try to transition the kids out of their sleep sacks. Hell no! I'm keeping those bad boys until they're potty trained if I can.
William still can not figure out how to get his shirts off by himself, and he even has a hard time pulling pants over his feet. I'd be concerned, but then I read a post like this and I'm quite glad for this developmental "delay"! LOL.
Oh wow - add that to the list of things I'm glad I don't have to deal with for awhile!
Thanks for the comment on my blog!
So Alex prefers au naturale. Does he take after you or Jon?
Hm... K, once she poops (before falling asleep and without telling anyone), decides it's time for a change and takes it all off. Either cleanup is a bear or we catch her in time :-)
oh. my. god. you just made my monday. so funny, but not, you know?
OMG! That is my BIGGEST fear with my girls. I'm not so worried about Chloe but Maddie.....she SCARES me. The past few nights she has been moaning about her jammies being too tight after we think she is asleep. And by the time I can get in there to check on her she's down to her diaper. Tonight I walked in on her ripping her diaper OFF! Even scarier is that the jammies she took off were full zipper fleece footies - and she has them off in under two minutes. I feel for you. If you come across any good tips to prevent the looming poop disaster PLLLEEEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEE share!
This is precisely why we still put the boys in footed pj's zipped up the back. Duct tape was no match for M & W.
Don't know what we'll do when they transition to beds. Then they'll be able to "help" each other with the snaps and zippers.
OMG- the poop in the bed! Oh, no.... although it will be a fantastically funny blog post when it happens.
I'll second the suggestion of pajamas on backwards and zipped up the back.
Dangerous times. Be careful out there.
We started having this problem a little after our twins turned two. we'd hear them talking and laughing and giggling, and next thing we knew we'd go in and all clothes would be off and poop all over their beds. After 5 months, I bought diaper pins to pin their clothes together. It's been working out great since August. GL!
