If they are crying, they tell each other, "Brother it's okay. You don't need to cry. I'm right here."
If they are hurt, they give each other hugs or rub each other's foreheads.
If one starts crying for a toy, the other will often give it up to stop the crying. Nate is pretty good at working this angle on Alex.
By far my favorite is that Nate has started accepting spontaneous hugs from Alex. He finally saw that it upset Alex when he refused hugs. While he doesn't heartily hug back, it's a small step in the right direction.
It is sweet and endearing to see their relationship develop.

How sweet! My grandpa has a twin brother. And even now, at 70-something, they are both still very close.
the toy thing? can i teach that somehow?
Finally, some true "twin" behavior. You've been waiting a long time for that.
Oh!! That makes me so happy. Poor little Alex has been waiting YEARS for this day! So glad his brother decided to oblidge :)
Isn't that the sweetest? William has been showing all kinds of love to Seth lately, too. He'll say, "You're alright, Seffy! Here, you want a toy?" He's always trying to put Seth's pacifier in his mouth for him, and handing him toys to play with. He'll ask me, "Why is Sef crying Mommy?" Sooo cute. I'm glad Nate's figuring out that a little brotherly love is a good thing! But leave it to him to figure out how to work the twin system, too!
How special that you get to watch that twin bond as it develops and grows. I love the photo! Best friends for life!
All I can say is "Awwwwwwww."
I hadn't heard that multiples developed empathy earlier than their peers, but I totally see it with my two.
