My boys will do anything for candy

I wish I had realized the power of candy bribery earlier in my parenting career. It rulez.

I bought the boys' Halloween costumes early because I need two in the right size and I'm frugal so I wanted cheap costumes that don't look cheap. I loved the Old Navy quality last year and as much as I don't like Nate and Alex matching, there was NO WAY I could get them to wear different costumes without some kind of complete meltdown. With Halloween on a Friday, I hope to go all out and let the boys gorge themselves on candy and stay up late on a sugar high so the last thing I need is a mega-fight over costumes.

Before you judge, please admit you never dreamed about this kind of Halloween as a kid. Yeah that's what I thought.

I wanted to try the costumes on for size and learned Alex was afraid of his costume. He freaked when I tried to get him to wear it the first time. But with enough patience, understanding, cajoling, and swedish fish, I present my little pirates:

I didn't put their pants on because I want to save the full effect for Halloween. IT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!

How can you say no more candy to this sweet face?!

I got that same costume for Daniel! But it's too big, so I think I have to return it. Except I'm nervous the smaller size will be too small.

Rebecca, on the other hand... is a ninja. Everyone's going to think she's a boy, but I don't care. It's just too fitting. :-)

Very sweet!! But where is mom's costume? If you are going 'all out' doesn't that mean you have to dress up too? I'm thinking parrot to go along w the pirates.

Wow! I remember the monkeys from last year. I'm glad you had a trial run. Good to know in advance that a costume is scary, as opposed to the night of. Fun cute pirates!

LOL! How cute are they? I also fully support the stay up late and gorge yourself on candy plan. Sometimes you have to live a little.

They are so cute! I plan to give Michael as much candy as he wants on Halloween and then I will eat the rest.

aww, they are ridiculously cute pirates! I too have fallen prey to the candy bribery, though I don't think I'm ready for the all-out gorge:0 One of them wants nothing to do with halloween, I think he's been scared a few too many times by masks at the stores and thinks that everything is scary.

Anything for candy? Yeah. K was sick Friday through Monday, and stayed home Tuesday, too since she'd had a temp of 100.2 on Monday afternoon. How did we take her temp? Well, the ear thermometer might read low, and she doesn't know how to put an oral thermometer under her tongue... so on Friday and Saturday we had lots of screaming about not wanting to take the temperature. Then, E had the bright idea to bribe with chocolate. We haven't taken her temp since Tuesday, but she's still asking to have her temperature taken!

I agree with Sally...can you be MY mom?!?

We got one costume for Reid already (at the resale store). Brook has a $5 limit per kid for their costume. Although, to be fair, this limit will end at age 4. Do they have a monetary limit on the amount of winter outdoor gear he buys them? Of course not. His logic sucks. But, now that I think of it, they spent about 45 seconds in their costumes last year. THey hated them! We've already tried the one costume on, and it was a hit! Finn might just go as "Airplane Jacket Man", since that is all he wants to wear.

I don't think kids get much cuter than that!

Awesome. On my to- do - list: go online and find halloween costumes for the boys. What will actually happen: won't get done and I'll wait until the day before halloween and see what I can find at Target for 50% off. Note to self, splurge on the plastic pumpkin bucket this year so your kid isn't the only one with a tupperware container.

Doesn't everyone use M&Ms to help potty train? I'm all about bribing with candy!

So cute! Those smiles are just adorable.

They are TOOO precious! I'd give 'em all the candy they want...heck, I'd sit down and eat it with 'em!

If it makes you feel better, I'll let mine go for the gorge this year too!
