A recent development I love is the boys' comprehension of chronological order. We'll tell them, "Put on sunscreen, put on shoes, and we will go to the park," and they understand it. I know this would be huge with one kid but this is doubly huge with twins. It has resolved all of our naptime struggles because we tell them what's coming after nap. They are much more amenable to leaving each other alone knowing after naptime we're going to the pool or the park.
Nate has become a little parrot, mimicing everything we say. One day at naptime, he was listing off all the things they can not do at naptime for Alex. Al-sis, no get out of bed. Al-sis, no fighting. Al-sis, no jumping on bed. Al-sis, no spit in bed (that is not a typo!). As I heard Nate stringing off the complex list of "can'ts" I felt like a strict mom. That moment was incredibly short-lived and was replaced by a sense of joy that THEY GET IT. They understand what I'm saying on a whole new level and it is, in my typical word, AWESOME.

I wrote a post today on HDYDI about our experience with Alex's helmet. It felt great to write that post as a success story. I thought I would tell a bonus part of the story here on my blog. Because Alex had his helmet during the time he learned to pull up and cruise, the kid had/has NO FEAR of falling. If he fell, his helmet cushioned his head. I truly believe the helmet is why he remains fearless now.

Isn't that brillant!? in early July, we started telling Seren what she would do after nap. Often, her last words when she falls to sleep are what she plans to do next. "when i wake up, i play with mom and dad". It rocks! I love the time sequence thing. She also understands "yesterday" and "tomorrow". Yeah! A new milestone/phase!
Wow, what a great thing to get. Especially with both of them. LOL about thinking your are strict...for a moment. I love that.
I'm so jealous! We're not quite there yet. I think we're close, and I can see how it will bring about a lot more peace in our household. So I can only imagine what it's done for yours! Yay Nate and Al-sis!
