Since the boys enjoy watching tv, Jon and I thought we would get to watch an insane amount of Olympics together. Wrong. Here are some Olympic events we tried to watch:
Soccer:
Nate: No like soccer.
Alex: NO!
Laura to Jon: You got to watch unlimited hours of World Cup the summer the boys were born. And you watched the Euro Cup earlier this year. We're not watching Olympic soccer together.
Basketball:
Nate: Don't like basketball.
Alex: NO!
Laura: I LOVE COACH K!
Jon: How many times is the US going to dunk?
Swimming, water polo:
Alex: NO!
Nate: Wanna go pool.
Laura: How many games is President Bush going to attend? Doesn't he have a country to run or something?
Archery:
Alex: NO!
Laura: This is hella boring.
Jon: Are they supposed to touch the bow to their faces like that?
Gymnastics:
Alex: Monkey!
Nate: Monkey! I like monkey!
Laura: Really? Really? We've got world class soccer, more basketball dunks than NBA Jams, Michael Phelps running up the Olympic gold tally, and you like men's gymnastics?!?!
Our dreams of unlimited Olympics watching crushed, Jon and I are opting for late nights watching Olympic coverage after the boys go to bed.

Too funny! I love Nate's reaction to the swimming events.
Hilarious. I agree with the previous commenter - "Wanna go pool" is so funny.
I think it's sweet they liked watching the gymnastics. I was just saying to my husband last night while we were watching Olympics after the kids go to bed, for the next summer Olympics the kiddos will be 6, and they may want to watch and cheer with us. Or perhaps it'll be like at your house, and the swimming will just make them want to go to the pool.
Hey, you did better than us. All I heard was "want to watch Cars, Watch to watch trains" the entire time. Oh yeah, yesterday I got, "I want to watch the PGA championship" but not from Michael.
love that gymnastics is associated with monkeys! this is a super fun post!
Hilarious! Lana loved the gymnastics too--she started jumping around and tumbling during the womens floor routines. Lana took one look at swimming and wanted to go to the bathtub for "swimming".
Thank you so much for the e-mail about the helmets. It really brings it into perspective to read about your experiences with it. I'm calling the specialist tomorrow to get his opinion. Thanks again, you really helped relieve some of my stress about it!
P.S. I guess we better cherish the olympic watching moments while the boys are immobile!
Classic. And if you're like me, by the time the boys are in bed, you fall asleep while waiting for all the stupid interruptions to stop and the real events to be shown!
