We were at the mall over the weekend, scoping it out for cold weather activities (food, place for kids to run around, mesmerizing fountains, train table at Barnes & Noble, proximity to Target... all good things with two toddlers). We stopped by Pottery Barn Kids and realized they have a variety of insanely awesome toys on display.
Nate and Alex:
* Played with a big dog puzzle
* Pushed around wooden bulldozers and diggers
* Sat at a table playing a board game
* Cooked fake food at a play kitchen
* Jumped on a display version of their toddler beds
Oopsie on that last one.
There were two older boys hogging all the wooden construction vehicles and my evil eye attempts were thwarted. There were 12 vehicles and I only needed 2 and did the mom see I had two toddlers with me?! Finally the mom looked at me and said, "Are they twins?" I get these comments frequently now because Nate and Alex look nothing alike, yet they are the same height and same weight.
I said my standard, "Yes they are twins but they are fraternal." She said, "Twin boys. That would be enough to put me in the loony bin. I've got two boys myself and two boys at the same time would drive me crazy."
Nice to meet you too! Now share those wooden construction vehicles and get out of my way before I go LOCO.
PS. New post on HDYDI today about potty training. Please come share any and all potty training tips there!

People say and do the most random things! It is hard to parent toddlers and even harder to parent other parents! What the heck?! Sounds like the mall will be an awesome place to play when it gets chilly!
That's why God only gives twins to parents who can handle it! Sheesh! I'll have to check out Pottery Barn Kids next time we're at the mall. Thanks!
LOL! Some people..
I wish SO badly that we had a PBK!! I love their magazine and online store way to much though.
Ugh! Keep your rude comments to yourself people!
Don't you hate when they completely miss the evil eye?
Do you have an Ikea in your area? Ikea is lots of fun in bad weather.
When I was in Denver a few weeks ago, someone said to me "if I had twins, I'd put a gun to my head". Quite graphic.
I like that you are scoping out activities for cooler weather when it is 85 degrees out. Our leaves are starting to turn and it was 42 degrees this morning. The boys wore short sleeves because I knew it would be warm today---at 50 degrees. Oh how I miss "real" weather!
You have a mom style that I strive to emulate. I think you have found the balence between work and family that I sorely want to have. Where you find the time, god only knows. Do you sleep?
Reagan loves to play in pottery barn kids too. She loves the kitchen. I think every time we go in there it turns into a near brawl. Mama bear gets pretty protective when she sees older kids knocking Reagan down so they can get to the refrigerator or take the toaster from her. I'm not even certain some of those kids are supervised. I think the parents drop them off and come back and get them after two hours like it's some kind of free
babysitting service.
