Jon and I have become superstitious in a particular way since learning we were having twins. If we say something out loud, we know it will change. If we discussed how great Nate slept, he would magically develop an ear infection and we'd be treated to a sleepless night of screaming. If we discussed that Alex seemed to be past the worst of his tantrums, we'd be treated to an hour-long kick-and-scream fest. And we NEVER discuss the last time the kids were sick because that is the sure-fire way to get a call about two vomiting kids.
Jon and I love the boys' nicknames for each other. One day Alex came home from day care saying "Nate" instead of "Nay-nay" and we were pretty sad. Thursday night, Jon said, "I'm going to be really sad when Nate stops calling Alex 'Al-sis.'"
Nate came home from day care yesterday saying "Alex" perfectly. Superstition confirmed again.

Awwwwww. I loved the "Al-sis" and "Nay-Nay" nicknames, too. I wonder when William will stop calling Seth "Seffy." And I wonder what Seth will call William. *Sigh* They're growing up!
I'm with you on the jinxing things! It's like my motto to "never say never." I've been proven wrong on that one so many times.
Nicknames are starting to pass at our house, too. JJ is not Jadyn. A very proper sounding Jadyn, too. As in, "Do you like ice cream, Jad-yn?"
My husband DOES NOT believe in jinxes or superstitions or anything of the sort so I've come to rely less on that myself. But, I can tell you that we are pretty superstitious in our attempts to keep everything the exact same for sleep purposes. So, perhaps he does believe after all ...
Aw - I always think "Al-sis" when I think of your boys. Glad you have it documented here!
Dude, that is so true...not only for twins. If you say it, you jinx it. It's just the way it is.
The great thing about losing the cute nicknames is that in a few days, the way they say each other's names will become just as endearing as the nicknames.
Trust me, it will. It's their survival technique. Be so darn cute, that those parents can't help but love us.
Oh! I don't like all of this growing up they are doing. Soon, they will have "other" nicknames for each other as all siblings do. I'll look forward to reading that post too!
