It's suddenly 27 months later. I (kind of) know what I'm doing. Those teeny tiny soft cuddly babies are big boys, running around talking and doing boy things. There's not even a hint of baby anymore. It's not the big changes that are shocking - eating a solid diet, walking, sleeping all night. It's the small changes that catch your breath.
It's a little boy asking for cereal then drinking the milk from the bottom of the bowl without spilling any.
It's a little boy learning to take off his own clothes.

It's two little boys talking to their dad about what happened in their day.

I have to tell you, Batman loves watching videos of your boys! My favorite is still the popsicle one! But this was very cute. When Batman talks to my mom, I have to "translate". It's funny how you learn to speak "toddler".
i am so with you on the growing into boys part. we are still in that place, that balancing between baby-notbaby. the picture of the cereal bowl drinking melted my heart. i love your little guys so much...weird, as we have never really 'met'. when you mention the early months and that feeling of helplessness/hoping for better, well, i know, and i know you know. feels so good to see you in such a wonderful place with them and the way they are growing. if california comes into your plan in the future, well, find us. and if we get to n.carolina ever, i am showing up on your doorstep.
It IS the little things, isn't it? Yesterday my kids were eating raisins out of those little red boxes. It's times like those when you say outloud, "they're not babies anymore, they're boys".
You always know what to say, Laura C!
P.S. Loved your interview--especially the part about what we, as twin parents, get to experience that singleton parents don't. Lucky, lucky, lucky!
Exactly!
The talking about his day is the part that has been blowing me away lately. It sounds bad to say it this way but J is starting to seem like a real person, LOL. This morning he was looking in the mirror and exclaimed, "Mommy! I got a hole in my eye!" when he saw his pupils for this first time. Stuff like that is PRICELESS.
I love the expressions on their faces while they talk on the phone. It really is a stretch to be able to picture the person you're talking to. Very big boys indeed.
Great video! Great to capture these moments. I like how you can hear Jon too so "we" can put the conversation in context as well. What cute little guys. I have to agree that the pic of drinking milk out of a bowl is classic big boy/teenage boy behavior! And why it is just so amazing to see them transform into the little people they are.
