You were a little swan, outgrowing all those yucky newborn things and turning into one of the cutest toddlers I've ever seen. You are so inquisitive, always wanting to know how something works and what noise it makes. You have smiles for everyone and will still go to anyone. You taught me to give to someone when I feel I have nothing left to give. My sweet baby, I am lucky to have you in my life.
My sweet little Nate, you were not ready to come into this world. You needed more time on the inside, and that need filled every day when we brought you home. When you were born, you had a sweet little mouse face and creamy skin, but boy, could you scream and cry. People called you fussy and I got angry because you were MY BABY! My precious Nate!
You were a little swan, outgrowing all those needy newborn things and turning into the one of happiest toddlers I've ever seen. You are so sensitive and cautious, always waiting until you are ready for something to attempt it then you do it perfectly. When you laugh, it is the most joyous sound I've ever heard. You taught me to be patient when I feel I can't take it anymore. My sweet baby, I am lucky to have you in my life.
My sweet little Alex and my sweet little Nate, today is the one year anniversary of the day of your birth. Your first trip around the sun. Your first birthday. One year that you have been in my life. The hardest year of my life. The best year of my life.
I knew that being a mom would be amazing. I did not know that being Nate and Alex's mom would be the proudest thing I would ever call myself. I hope every year together is as good as this year. I love you more than anything.
Happy birthday sweeties!
PS. To all readers - PLEASE delurk and wish Nate and Alex happy birthday in the comments! I will be printing this page for their baby book!
